Roy Orbison had some real tragedies in his life. First losing his wife in 1966, then in 1968, why'll in England, he got news his house had burned down, and he lost his two eldest sons in the fire. He also suffered quite a few health problems, but was always there for his fans.

He was Elvis' favorite singer. Such a fantastic singer. And one of the nicest people I ever met. My brother produced a concert with him about 5 months before he passed away. It was incredible. We met with for about 45 minutes after the show. He was very nice, soft spoken and got a kick out of it when one of our friends told him he named his daughter Leah after one of his songs. We were shocked and saddened when he passed away. He had told us he would come back the following year for another show.

No one else sounds like Roy. Somehow, his voices always grabs my heart and soul. You know, the fact that World War II ended not that many years before this impacted the that need for a stable like. Hey, great reaction! Thanks! God love you, Roy.

Roy Orbison had one of the most smooth powerful voices. He could sing real high falsetto & also low. Elvis Presley loved Roy's voice. Roy had lots of hits in the 60's such as "Only the Lonely", "Running Scared", "Crying", "In Dreams", "Love Hurts", "Blue Bayou" & "Oh, Pretty Woman". In 1988, he co-founded the Traveling Wilburys (a rock supergroup) with George Harrison, Bob Dylan, Tom Petty, & Jeff Lynne. They had a lot of great songs such as "Handle With Care" & "End Of The Line".

Roy goes back to the early 50's. 1953 actually. Started at Sun records along with Elvis Presley and Jerry Lee Lewis. I remember him before the shades.

No, ur wrong. Roy, like Buddy Holly, saw Elvis on the Louisiana Hayride in 1954/5 and this prompted them both to move away from playing country music only and play "Elvis style" also. He was then told in 1956 to go and try to get Sun to sign him to a deal and *56 was the year Orbison made his first record. Elvis was gone by the time he started recording at SUN.. Elvis was Roy's idol. He even wrote a song especially for Elvis but couldn't track him down. So, Roy recorded it instead. Elvis also sang to Roy once in a dream. Roy actually had never heard of the song and immediately wrote it down. It was a new song. Naturally, Orbison recorded it.

My Mom on a Sat afternoon cleaning the house. Roy and the rest of those ole songs would be turned up loud on the HiFi stereo. and walk out in the street. every wife had this stuff on Up loud. Men were out in the yard doing the grass, or car, or had you hold that thing while he worked on something. it was a very simple time to live in. so much music I may hear will bring back a memory. thanks guy's👍👍👍👍👍👍

Sun was the first label to record Elvis Presley, Charlie Rich, Roy Orbison, Jerry Lee Lewis, Carl Perkins, and Johnny Cash. Roy and Elvis had mutual respect for each other. he went to Elvis' concerts from 1954 to 1976. Roy was the only artist to open for both The Beatles and Elvis Presley. Elvis never recorded one of Roy Orbison's songs, a clear mark of respect in that he did not believe he could better him. Joe Walsh is Roy's grandson Roy the III godfather. Roy, George Harrison, Tom Petty, Bob Dylan and Jeff Lynn formed a group called The Traveling Wilburys. He was still with the group at the time of his death age 52. Cause heart attack.

Roy Orbison had a tremendous range in singing. I prefer pretty woman though. Rest In Peace. I once or twice drove past his home about 2 houses down from the late Johnny Cash. Is that something I should be saying lol?

They have been slowly demonizing the American male for decades. Through entertainment, music, and socially bashing them as toxic. The dumbing down. The I don't need no man. The constant erosion of the old-fashioned or traditional roles have all but obliterated the male as we knew them. Look at Homer Simpson, Al Bundy who represented the dying breed of men who worked to support his family like a dog. Dud his family appreciate him. Only as a wallet. Then, the music slowly turned to more feminized voice for men. Boy bands. As less threatening in their appeal. When was the last you heard a real male voice in music. Like Sinatra, Elvis, Tom Jones, Lou Rawls, B. B. King, etc. And those men who express themselves that way now are considered less than or Beta-Males. Well, society got what it wanted.i don't agree with it. As I still open doors for women, let them order first, and write what I find beautiful about them and give it to them for the simple reason that I want them to know how I feel. You should see the looks I get. And most of the women now don't know how to respond. And that's a crying shame. And when they listen the music and movies from yesterday, they wonder what happened. I do too.
