"but without a dought this guy was 1 hard man..." I once heard Roy Shaw claim that in his prime and while locked up in prison, he once "ripped his prison door off of its hinges", while in a rage. I shit you not, that's what I once heard him say. I'll always remember that claim and (even though I did t know him, remember Roy Shaw for that because...........I do believe him.

Yeah i agree. I dont think he was wicked like some of the other gangland guys and he deffo wasnt a bully like big Lenny. He was just a very hard dude who had a tough upbringing. People call him a psycopath. He was probably more likely a sociopath coz he was more pissed off after a bad life than out and out wickedness.

Liam, I grew up in Luton during the late 60's & 70's, the town had its share of hard men including Charles Bronson & Cliff Field over in Dunstable. I knew one or two hard men in my youth & despite being friends never felt 100% comfortable in their company. I could always sense impending violence & felt that I never really knew them at all. Did you ever get this feeling when interviewing some of the guys you've met over the years? Your video's are great & capture a moment in time that is fast disappearing. These great characters were larger than life & many are no longer with us.
@LiamGalvinFilm7 жыл бұрын
That's great you like my stuff - my rule with most of these guys if I was out and about with them was to leave around 11ish as the mood often changed & you don't want to rub people up the wrong way by keep filming. I have enjoyed filming these videos but you have to be polite and respectful. Cheers enjoyed your post
@711honved7 жыл бұрын
Like Roy Shaw & Lenny McLean, Cliff is no longer with us. Following a stroke & a period of ill health Cliff passed away in 2010. Cliff didn't have the PR or personality of Shaw or McLean but he was without doubt the best fighter to ever grace an unlicensed arena. Roy Shaw said that Cliff was the real deal & called him the true Guvnor. Praise indeed!

Cliff Fields was a gent. I used to drink with him in The Wheatsheaf when I was just a teenager in the early 80’s. I was a right cocky little fucker and he taught me some manners... Nicely. He never really spoke much about his fights with Lenny & co.. I got locked up in Dunstable nick with him overnight when we were pissed & rowdy. He fuckin stank! Top man. Sorry to hear of his death.

I had 2 rotts which did the same thing his dogs did when he was putting his face down to kiss them, they would growl, show teeth but neither 1 of them bit me... greatest family protectors. I would play with my kids and they would call 4 help and either 1 of them would come after me like I was going to hurt them. GREAT DOGS...NEVER HAD EITHER 1 OF THEM ON LEASH BOTH WERE TRAINED AND I WALKED THEM THROUGH THE NEIGHBORHOOD

@loomin I also have 2 - now they are almost 10 - I hope to get them to 12/14 - with good food and stuff. Still... it will be a tragedy when they die. Trouble is we consider them like children even if they are as big as a human, and children are not supposed to die. Whatever, take care Jeanie.

A lot of people talk shit about this mans generation. But none of us really know what it was like in that time unless you lived it. If you had a problem, you'd fight it out. May the best man win. This is how these men made a living and these men did a lot better in life than a lot of straight people i know. So before you talk bolloks about shaw, lenny mclean or anybody from that time. Have a look at your life and think if you were back then could you be as successful and respected as these men were? Probably not.
