Part 4: in 2005 Liam Galvin & Yvette Rowland spent the day filming True Crime & Unlicensed Boxing Legend Roy Shaw at his home in Essex for the dvd 'Roy Shaw - Brute Force'. Much of the unedited footage was not used on the dvd. In this fourth part Roy tells about his Unlicensed Fights & his battles with Lenny McLean. He also talks about his feud with Romford Doormen & who was the real Guv'nor! A brutal look at a violent life!

While he may have excuses you got to give it to Shaw beating a much younger man in Lenny McLean and the fact that he was a heavyweight when Shaw was a natural middleweight. Imagine how the fights would of gone if they were both the same age.

He would talk about these guys and how he drove a "Lorry" and as he said doing "doggie business". He always drove jaguars and had lot of spare cash. In those days it was rare. He was a great bloke and always looked out for me. I came from a really poor family, my mother, bless her was single with four kids.

Roy was tough guy, a real tough guy. As for the Lenny thing, he was beaten twice, that brutal KO knocked him senseless, was one of the most brutal Knockouts I’ve ever seen, he was out on his feet, took about 5-6 heavy punches while he was collapsing… Regardless, Roy was a seriously hard bastard, nobody else would’ve lasted as long he did. He had that I’ll never quit attitude, guys like this you hate to fight, no matter how many times you hit them they get back up and av another go!… Like pit bulls, loveable and caring, no fear wouldn’t back down from anything. Love these Roy Shaw videos Liam. Very very tough man no doubt about it. So was Lenny. Roy doesn't come across as a liar and id never call him one.. But I can't see how a few tablets could be the reasons to both his Lenny losses. I've heard loads of times from various people Cliff Fields knocked Lenny out.. Cliff was from Dunstable just up the road from me in Luton. I think he became an alcoholic drinking on park benches taking a beating now and again by louts taking advantage of his poor health. I don't know if he's still alive.. Poor man

@@michaelharrison3602 Yes they can but it all depends on the circumstances, as in what version is taken or how and when you take them and in what dosage. Ginseng can in certain circumstances cause dizziness and drowsiness and high dosages of vitamin E of 400I IU or more per day can cause several side effects including blurred vision, dizziness, fatigue, tiredness and weakness. I am not arguing either way about the particular fights here and just the fact that both have side effects.

I met Shaw a few times at unlicensed fights, I found him quite wooden to be honest, always seemed like he was out of it, either on meds, drugs or just punch drunk. Poor old Roy's ego wouldn't let him admit defeat, his childhood probably didn't help though, maybe the ginseng didn't either. Was one of the toughest guys ever in his height and weight category.

They all are Mike. People glorify these blokes as hero's. They're not. These are the type of blokes that would punch you in a boozer for absolutely no reason.

@@lardy70sNone of them would . Not the real hard men. Most of the proper hard nuts in my family are honourable and no bullying. Leave them alone and they'll leave you alone. Simple. Exactly the same as Roy and most other Shaw's that i know. Decent folk.
