MARPAT is correct, though by now I think they are no longer switching over to the MARPAT. cadets where not allowed to wear cadpat because it was military issue. It ticks me off when persons comment on something that is totally wrong

We used to wear what is called "CadetPat" which is essentially digital woodland or marine camo if you will. But the government decided to take it away and replace it with OD green shit

There isn't really a specific way to clean your uniform, but of you are unfamiliar with doing laundry I would recommend just taking your uniform to a dry cleaner because they are usually experienced in cleaning formal clothing like a uniform.

Any and all medals that are not listed in the Canadian Order of Precedence (see www.gg.ca/document.aspx?id=14979) must be worn on the right of the cadet uniform. Medals that are in the COP are to be worn on the left. This is the standard as directed by the Department of National Defence.

Seriously doubt that you get them from the royal family. All medals are the same in all 3 branches. And all cadet medal go on the right at all times witch is the standard in Canada. The only medals in Canada presented by the royal family is the Victoria Cross witch is a medal for bravery during war time. And the Order of the British empire.

Some are exclusive to the certain branches, for example: Air [Air Cadet Service Medal, Air Force Association of Canada Cadet Medal], Army [Army Cadet Service Medal, Major General Howard Award], Sea [Sea Cadet Service Medal, Navy League of Canada Medal of Excellence].

From an artillery cadet (1390 red deer artillery regiment), yes ours are a dark green with a brass patch you get when you get to sergeant only, others below are just patches

Different regiments and affiliations for example military police wear red berets and paratroopers wear maroon berets, light infantry wear green berets and artillery and armoured wear black berets

Also, you should feel lucky about your PT stuff, my core doesn't issue that stuff because of budget cut backs. We also don't get combat parkas.

Hell, My air cadet squadron doesn't get issued combats or PT gear or parkas. We have 200+ members, though, so it could have something to do with that.

Most Air Cadet Squadrons don't give FTU's.

AcuteAlpaca I thought it was the opposite, that most of them do. I have a friend in 952 and he said that they all get issued FTUs during FTXs, and everyone in Survivair gets their own FTUs. Our squadron can't even give everyone an FTU. A lot of people have to either wear civilian clothes or surplus stuff.

You do get the opportunity to go shooting fairly often but sadly it is only with the daisy air rifle. They did let us use .22 caliber rifles a long while back even before even my seniors were in but don't anymore probably since someone got hurt or something and was taken out of the program. If you're looking to find a military experience close to the legit Canadian forces I would semi-recommend it When you go on a survival exercise you eat military food similar to what you eat when deployed A lot of it is way over the top compared to the real military. Example, the real military doesn't expect perfect drill all the time Lots of soldiers hate cadets because a lot of cadets think they are the same thing as the real military and act like douches If your friends do it it will be way more fun

Oh this sounds stupid, but im not the best in Physical training, im kinda fat lol. What type of Physical training do they do? I've reserched alot but never found this out.

You should join its so fun I live in England and the uniforms are way better than the other army cadet uniforms they are camouflage outfits and black ankle boots with a pastel green hat that flicks to 1 side but after you've finished your job people stair at you when you walk home Caz you got a proper army uniform on

So does the Canadian Air Cadets we have to buy ours to. But the US gets to wear a beret so lucky even though in combats (there is no suck thing called "cadet pat") we can wear a blue beret.

I think you read my original comment wrong. When I said "Us Air Cadets" I didn't mean the Civil Air Patrol (US Air Cadets). And CADETPAT is a thing. It is basically MARPAT, but can be purchased from the Army Cadet League website. Air Cadets aren't allowed to wear CADETPAT instead of OD's.

12 years is minimum age to join but I'd join as soon as possible

+Nick Stafford there all good, depends what you like or want to do if you think you might do something with the RCAF, or aviation, join aircadetrs if your heady for the army, army cadets is best for that, or if you want to be a parachutist/paratrooper sea cadets focases alot on stuff like sailing etc, as well as other things related, and the navy all branches teach drill, fitness and health, familiarization with the Canadian armed forces, and the biggest one, leadership air cadets give you various opportunities and scholarships, like aircraft matienece, glider pilot scholorship, private pilot scholorship and so on army cadets offers lots of physical training and other things related to the army, paratrooper wings are available, that course is 4 weeks? and is hard to do but so so rewarding sea cadets gets you your radio operators permit and boating licence and COUNTLESS skills regarding seamanship

Also, if you want to be a Para trooper, army has the basic parachutist course. Air cadets focuses a lot on all the branchs, and sea focuses a lot on army and sea, army focuses on basic canadian forces knowledge on top of normal cadet curriculum for your level or star or phase. Army cadets is most like the canadian forces when it comes to uniform.

it's REALLY not hard, most cadets are 12 yo and there's not intense PT, that's why I quit to join the actual CF
