In the US, "Veterinary" and "Prescription" diet foods have no legal standing. They are marketing terms. I understand that in Europe, RC is changing the ingredients. That is the usual procedure for parent company Mars Candy. The change is to improve quarterly profits, not pet health.

Hello Cam I need help. My senior chihuahua is having liver issues. Her symptoms get worse after she eats which leaves me to believe she has Hepatic encephalopathy. We feed her freeze dried dog food with good ingredients. What do you suggest for her? The vet was no help. Also you mention garlic in one of your vids. Does garlic like onions lead to more ammonia? Thank you

Hi there, does she have liver shunts? If so, you need to put her on a fish based fresh food diet.

Thanks! My vet recommended royal canin hepatic for my dog, she just came home after surgery but I knew this food was just overpriced bullsht. Those ingredients don’t seem to have anything to do with liver issues. The worst part is that he prohibited home made food (fresh natural diet), instead he did recommend this bullcr4p. Some vets are just lost regarding nutrition.

Let me destroy this video. My mom's dog is 17.5 years old. She was feeding him fresh, boiled turkey for the past 6 months. He started losing weight. He got weak and started trembling all the time. One day, he started to refuse to eat the turkey. He refused to eat for 3 days and got so weak he couldn't walk. Mom took him to the vet. His liver enzymes were WAY UP. They were NORMAL 6 months ago! All his blood work was good 6 months now, and now his liver function is having issues, only his liver! So the fresh quality meat you suggest actually made his liver ill. Yes, I realize he is very old, but he literally REFUSED to eat the turkey anymore. He told us it was making him sick. Dogs will communicate clearly if you pay attention. Vet recommend wet, hepatic Royal Canin. He is eating it, feeling better, and gaining strength. We'll see how his blood looks in a few months, but I am pretty sure the turkey messed up his liver.
