Royal Enfield Interceptor 650 BS6 vs Kawasaki W800 | The Best Non-British British Twin?

ZigWheels

Күн бұрын

The Interceptor may have won its face-off against the Triumph Street Twin, but now it has to take on the Kawasaki W800 in this battle of the non-British British twins. The Kawasaki seems to have the upper hand on paper, with a bigger engine, more power and torque, and a more authentic recreation of the good old Brit twins. But the Interceptor offers a lot of bike for the money. And who better to test these bikes than our two resident bawas?

That’s a really nicely put to together comparison ... nowadays videos from zigwheels are becoming more and more enjoyable and relatable and more importantly helping individuals find the automobile that s suitable for them.. cheers guys !!! In a platform where most ppl are just reading out spec sheets .. all the extra efforts and the thought process put in to make the content enjoyable at the same time not loosing track of what needs to be conveyed is simply awesome.. kudos to team and keep rocking .. expecting more and more content like this.. cheers

Great review guys. I like the looks of the interceptor and like that it's quieter. It appears the foot peg placement isn't great, but all in all I'd get the RE and just use some of the money saved for a good quality seat like a Corbin.

Surprisingly That's where most Indian lacks knowledge about proper segment wise comparison, and as a result we're getting to see some new form of toxicity among bikers without proper knowledge comparing 650twins with higher compression ratio short stroke engine bikes like RS 457 or 390 KTMs only to make themselves happy and show that they've still lot's of things to learn about bikes.😂

I must admit the Indian reviews are far and away better and more enjoyable to watch than the British or American reviews. You guys have really great taste in humor, banter and vid quality. Great comparison here!! Im leaning toward the RE INT650 but Im also very attracted to the Kawasaki Z650RS.

In Malaysia, a Royal Enfield Int 650 costs USD11880 (MYR to USD) which is still a better price (not sure about value for money) compared to a Kawasaki W800 at USD12840 and a Triumph Bonneville T120 for US19460.

1:52 The vibration is actually part of the feel of old British Twins. The W800 is designed to vibrate at 3,500-4,500 rpm. Above and below that range, it's smooth.
@shree397
@shree397 2 жыл бұрын
I will beg to differ as triumph itself is the incredibly smooth bike and both Triumph and Royal Enfield are very close to each other when it comes to feel of that vibration you are talking about
@sinner_ra
@sinner_ra Жыл бұрын
@@shree397 the RE 650 and Bonneville have a 270 degree crank while the W800 has a 360 degree crank. The 1960-70s Bonneville had 360. The newer age retro bikes came with 270 crank for better refinement but the W800 is a true retro, what the original British bikes used to be.
@shree397
@shree397 Жыл бұрын

@sinner_ra
@sinner_ra Жыл бұрын
@@shree397 I don’t know from where you have got this information (on RE using 270 degree crank in 1936). However that wasn’t my point. I just mentioned why RE and Triumph and feel smoother than the W800. W800 might be the only bike in production with 360 degree crank available today.
@shree397
@shree397 Жыл бұрын
@@sinner_ra Darling dont do that, Your syntax insinuated something else. It is not how you formulate a sentence when you want to say what you wanted to say. anyway royal Enfield used 270 degree crank on bullet 500 twin one it's prototype bike and it really caught fame but because 270 is more prone to vibration if the crank is not made in specific way so the end product was a 360 as in those days counter balancing engines was technically expensive and 360was accept and easy and cheap to make. And retro or non retro there is a reason everybody moved from 360 to 270 because 270 is better in almost every way. Kawasaki wanted to differentiate themselves but we're unsuccessful, sales numbers are awful.

There is one thing you would have to agree though, the RE would eventually see more trips to the service center than the Kawasaki which would last forever with just oil changes and some periodic maintenance.
@abilovestotrade

I have owned previous low quality RE bikes before buying Interceptor, I never had any problem with my bikes. At most I did was change clutch wires, and after like 4 years, one of the spark plugs. Literally zero maintenance cost. My interceptor is only 1 year old so I can't judge it yet but it has never caused any problems till now and the 2nd servicing cost of 650cc bike was only Rs. 2500, out of which Rs. 2100 was for oil change and Rs 400 was oil filter cap. Pretty damn cheap if you ask me. $33 for 2nd service, I mean how much cheaper can it get for owning a 650cc? Kawasaki imports it parts and stuffs, you will be paying a lot more for servicing and maintenance. These reviews don't consider the cost of owning a vehicle.

Remember, that Kawasaki engine is a 20 year old design. All they did for the 800 is install updated add-ones to the existing bike, like fuel injection, ABS and an increase of displacement around 100 cc’s. The basic engine design is the same. A 270 crank with a balancer will always be smoother than a 360 crank with a balancer. And the RE handles better too.

Also, even for the price in the UK which is more like 6k vs 8k I would never choose the black Street version of W800. However... there are nicer versions of the W available now (classic) and there is a lot of used W's with really low mileage here on the market.

I'm going to make a movie about an amusement park where dinosaurs are brought to life using futuristic cloning techniques. I'm going to name it BILLY AND THE BRONTOSAURUS

Great video & I liked how the Interceptor blew him away in the Twisties & w800 being 800cc should perform way better.The 650 looks better & has a better torque delivery & is more real world friendly.
