Sorry to ruin ur stuff but they're not SF, they're classed as elite n so are the paras. Mountain leaders I would think are SF but they aren't too

@some guy yeah of course, but they are not classed as SF but like Sam has said they are elite. It's because every royal marine has to do 2 years as a general duties rifleman until they get to specialise. Also remember they are still classed as commandos which is a right in itself.

@some guy They are literally not a SF unit, they are elite infantry completely different ball game. UKSF are, SAS, SBS and SRR. Totally different training regimes, specialising in different fields.

do not make the mistake of over relying on drones for supply. if an EMP or some interference occurs, they will be left without supplies or other methods of getting supplies (that is, if they rely on drones to become too dependent on them)

The best thing that will and can come to this, is the new wave of Rct's, New people will be already in "the zone" for the new tactics. The current serving will just be an even stronger and experienced adapted soldiers. Props to UK.

Pretty slow moving at low altitude makes them pretty handy targets for anyone armed with anything slightly more substantial than a conker... how long until they're armed? Skynet here we come.

There are also shoulder launched missiles that can shoot down a chinook... I bet these things don't have anywhere near the radar signature, noise levels or any other factor that makes them detectable ...

There's anti drone guns that disconnect drones from their pilots. Some are even hand held

The very pbvious failing of these drones is that they can very easily be shot down by small-arms fire, especially as most of them fly low and are slow moving. They can also be shot down, day or night, by new mini-missiles that are being developed and can easily home in on such targets. If the commandos are over-dependent on these drones for supply, moving personnel, etc., their operations can soon become badly disrupted in real conflicts.

the drones are only flying low when resupplying, if the enemy can shoot them down with small arms fire at that point youre clearly already surrounded! if the drones are coming in behind a front line of marines firing, youd hope the enemy forces would have more to worry about than the drones, and if they choose to target a drone not a potentially lethal marine ... well good for the marines init

You mean the same way they can shoot helicopters down..? Doesn't mean they stop using them. The enemy can also shoot the marine doesn't mean we don't deploy them.

I'm sure the bean counters in the MOD love this type of stuff for no other reason than its going to be a lot cheaper than the alternatives...But as usual, whether its best for the troops on the ground will be of secondary concern.

What you on about? It’s not just about money it’s a lot better to have a small drone doing resupply to troops behind enemy lines then having a helicopter or airdrop as that is loud and a lot more detectable.

Drones are still very small targets and don’t generate much noise, I reckon they’d go unnoticed to the mk1 eye ball if any further than a couple hundred meters away

If you're already shipping it, you should ship it to a safe place, and if you ship it to an open space like that, you're likely to be targeted.

Now what I mean is that for example a helicopter if it gets shot by a gun it will do some damage but I will not take it down unless it was a machine gun or something else and the stuff in the drone could be important for the enemy but with a helicopter most of the stuff would be damaged that’s what I mean :)

@@adamatch9624 I mean more piloting, as good as AI is, it’s proven not to have the capability to make split second decisions. Take for example, a Tesla has to either swerve right and hit an old lady, or swerve left and hit a mother with a baby. I just think you need an ethical human mind to make the decisions, but that’s just my opinion

@@arminius6506 it really depends who has air superiority like what just happened in karabakh the azeris could fly all the drones they wanted and basically won the war with them because the Armenians got knocked out of the air fight early on

Everything in a war involves an element of risk. I assume that people with more insight than you have weighed the pros and cons already and will do so in any eventual operational scenario.

You do release a drone is less likely to be shot down as it’s harder to spot , hear and has less off a radar signature. Also if you need re supply behind enemy lines it’s better to have the more discrete thing (drone) over a helicopter or plane that could also be shot down with a AA shoulder launcher.

A drone delivery system would give away military soldiers positions. In a real war fighting scenario don’t send me any drone delivery. Use a ground based drone to carry gear.

No more than armoured carriers getting to the site to manually deliver goods with the 'risk' that incurs. One drone can fly this and if it gets lost that fine weve lost a drone and a bag. Also if your facing mortar its typically not too accurate and you can obviously accept a parcel in one place then quickly move to another similar to what the Taliban already do ie. Fire a mortar or rpg and then move
