As part of our #OurHouseToYourHouse Masterclass series, Royal Opera Jette Parker Young Artist Yaritza Véliz is coached through arias from La bohème by Music Director Antonio Pappano.
This session sees Yaritza rehearse 'Sì. Mi chiamano Mimì' and 'Donde Lieta' from La bohème accompanied by pianist Richard Hetherington.
The Jette Parker Young Artist programme supports the artistic development of talented singers at the beginning of their careers. Young Artists are employed as salaried members of The Royal Opera and immersed in the life of the Royal Opera House over a two-year period.
The specially-tailored programme includes extensive daily coaching in languages, stagecraft and vocal techniques, alongside training for cover roles, performing in concerts and for smaller roles on the main stage.
The Jette Parker Young Artists Programme is generously supported by Oak Foundation.

It’s great how he draws out her “ma quando vien lo sgelo” passage - on her first run it was good but he really pulls it out of her.

Yaritza is amazing!! I had the pleasure to hear and see her in Don Giovanni as Zerlina!! She is wonderful!!!!!! I can't wait to see her sing in theaters around the world! Love from Chile ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤

What a voice, and totally ideal for Mimi. I've always believed that Mimi is best served by a full lyric soprano with dark-hued pathos. (Gheorghiu comes to mind. As does early Netrebko.) This soprano has it in spades. I have goosebumps.

Every time I listen to these two pieces my heart breaks. Yaritza brings life and tenderness to this sweet and sad music, can't wait to see her premiering this role in a major opera House!

This programs with Sir Pappano is a very good lesson for young people. But to day the new generasjon is not listening classic at KZfaq I think. Hope this programs will be sendt to every(skole,norwegian)in the world.

Linbury Studio. It's a smaller venue inside the Royal Opera House, recently refurbished. It has its won season of opera and ballet, usually more modern and/or experimental stuff.
