Frontman of addictive Swedish pop-metallists, Royal Republic in conversation with Andy Rawll for Record Collector Magazine.
Adam reflects on the 10 year anniversary of the band's debut album 'We are Royal' and the imminent release of their fourth full studio album 'Club Majesty' (31st May 2019 via Nuclear Blast).
Having finally nailed their unique cross-over sound, that straddles garage rock, disco, grunge and glam metal with 2016's acclaimed 'Weekend Man', the Swedish quartet's new album is a confident, playful, exhilarating and rocking release that could well be their best yet. Think the White Stripes jamming with Chic backstage at a QotSA gig.
Preview single 'Fireman & Dancer' is a great place to start for the uninitiated with its compelling groove, amped guitars and outrageous vocals.
During the interview, Adam reveals more about the evolution of the band's songwriting and the recurring themes of space, wish-fulfilment and fantasy, alongside tongue-in-cheek tracks like 'Can't fight the disco'.
Royal Republic have a series of festival dates in the summer, including a return to the main stage at Download. They then return for a three month, 35-date headline tour across Europe in October. This includes 11 UK dates between 18/11 and 31/11, when they play London's prestigious Electric Ballroom.
