I know some disagree, but I think this was the perfect tiara for Catherine to wear at her wedding. She didn't grow up thinking she would wear one and watching her since you can see how she has gradually expanded on the size and scope of jewelry she wears for formal occasions. I really like the fact that she's wearing pieces that have not been seen in decades. I also like the way that she wears certain pieces of Queen Elizabeth's jewelry at important times. What a lovely tribute to her grandmother-in-law.

It is interesting to see that Catherine wore 3 tiaras previously by the Queen Mother: the Halo Diamond, the Lotus Flower and the Strathmore tiara.

It’s gorgeous and the story behind it is so sweet. Honestly some of the larger, more ornate tiaras can tend to wear the wearer. This tiara, on the other hand, tends to accentuate beauty rather than steal the spotlight.

I think the Cartier diamond tiara is lovely and probably comfortable to wear as it doesn't look to heavy and can be worn almost like a headband.

I really like the Cartier halo tiara, it must have been very suitable when it was made for a duchess, things changed when they became King and Queen, more 'regal' options must have been advised but it is a lovely, restrained and balanced piece.

It may just be me, but I think Princess Charlotte looks a lot like a very young Queen Elizabeth - King George VI’s queen consort.

I believe the Queen left this tiara to Princess Charlotte when she died.

No she didn't, her will was private so no one can know what's in it but what we do know is the tiaras aren't ever given to anyone, they're loaned out but not gifted to others nowadays, the tiaras stay with the main line of the family that way. They're heirlooms and of historical significance and in most cases they are not even the private property of the king or queen, they belong to the crown and cannot be given away.

Nope these tiaras belong to the crown and are usually loaned for life unless of divorce. They always revert to the crown

I stand corrected. The halo tiara is on loan to Princess Catherine. She has four loaned by the Crown.

That Tiara isn't any longer Loan to Kate , Camilla Passed that Tiara on to Sophie Wessex, Edward wife , I thought a Tiara Loan was for the life of the Duchess or until Divorce, All the Tiara she loaned that one to Sophie, my goodness,

Sophie wore the lotus flower for the Japanese state visit. It’s considered sacred in Japan which is why Sophie wore it to the banquet in the Princesses absence. If you follow royalty there’s usually another reason for them wearing that particular piece of Jewelry. Camilla had nothing to do with it. If the Princess was able to attend then she would have worn the lotus flower. The Cartier scroll tiara is what Catherine wore on her wedding day and has been loaned for life by QEII

This tiara, though of little interest, isn't ugly, and can be nicely worn for a formal reception that's not too solemn. But I've never understood why it was chosen for the wedding of the future queen. It's so small you could hardly see it, especially half-concealed by the veil. It was ridiculous and miserable, totally inappropriate for such an important ceremony.

Nothing by Cartier is insignificant or lacking in beauty, IMHO. Perhaps POW wanted sometbhing easy to wear. She is not from royalty or an aristocrat background, so perhaps this was her first time wearing a Tiara. The Late Queen no doubt also offered her opinion on suitable Tiara's and perhaps she wanted to model her royal career on the late Queen Mother?

I think Catherine made a good choice. If she had been married in one of the tiaras Diana wore she would ha😅ve been critiqued and she didn't have a family tiara she could have worn ( like Diana wearing the Spencer tiara) To the Royal family often the family tradition and history of the tiara is more important than the size and monetary value of a tiara. I. Believe a Dutch queen said "we don't count carats, we count centuries." The tiara has a romantic history , what better to wear then at a wedding.

It was absolutely appropriate in every way. If she wore a huge tiara she'd be ripped apart for it and accused of taking advantage of her new position right away, she wasn't royal and the tiara is meant for younger women just starting out, a starter tiara basically, and it was conservative and not super showy and understated and classy and it struck exactly the right tone.

My understanding is that she originally wanted to wear a floral head piece that was all part of her theme of bringing nature into the Abbey (the trees in the Nave, eg). It was suggested that a tiara would be more appropriate on the occasion of a royal wedding to the heir to the throne. I think she made a good choice; after all, the focus should be on her not her jewelry on her wedding day.
