He just announced his retirement. I’m so bumped out that I never got to see him live, especially in this role. I love how sweet and soft-spoken he is. It’s a shame that he hasn’t been featured that much on this channel.

¡EDWARD WATSON & STEVEN MCRAE! My two favorite male dancers. Wheeldon should create a piece for those two. Something fiery to match.

Luke 12:29-31 And do not seek what you are to eat and what you are to drink, nor be worried. For all the nations of the world seek after these things, and your Father knows that you need them. Instead, seek His kingdom, and these things will be added to you.

Why are principal dancers the only ones allowed to attend the class of the opposite dancer? What is the thought process behind it and why would they take the opposite class if, as I'm assuming, it's tailored to the gender of the class? Thanks!
@anneharrison1849
@anneharrison1849 5 жыл бұрын
Most companies are flexible on class, it's not always actually required for the dancer to go to class each day and you can choose which class you go to, or even where you go to class, but there is a saying that goes something like "miss class one day and you feel it, miss it two days and the director will see it, miss it three days and the audience will see it". Principal women will often attend mens class when they want to work on their jumps. I think there is a video somewhere on youtube of Sara Mearns of NYCB going to the advanced boys class at the School of American Ballet.

Anne Harrison I thought RB class was compulsory every day (unless injured). There might be different classes tailored more to men or women, but everyone has to do it.

MarIrisFM really?!? i had a feeling he was rather tall. i saw him live about a month ago and even then, because he was up on stage, i still couldn't get a good guesstimate. i had him at my height (which is 6') so i guess i was close! it's funny how much different he and david hallberg look on stage, given that they are virtually the same height. although, ed definitely has better muscle mass/tone compared to david.

Well ordinary men are awful more often than not, dancers have sculpted Bodies, do a lot of work out, Pilates, ballet class and eventually perform in ballet such as Mayerling, Spartak; Romeo& Juliet and so on that are a Joy to watch.
A tribute to the most outstanding artist/dancer Edward Watson
