Simon Russell Beale plays Prospero and Mark Quartley plays Ariel in our 2016 production, directed by Gregory Doran for the Swan Theatre. With Intel and in association with The Imaginarium Studios.

I hope you realise Ariel's a guy. If him from the Tempest is whom you mean. Unless you mean the Ariel from Disney's version of the Little Mermaid?

I was Ariel from the Tempest and honestly it's a bit redundant to give spirit a definite gender, but thank you so much for the need to correct me especially under a video about the play that the character I was talking about was from. Super helpful and I'm sure you'll be happy to hear that our Prospero was played by a woman

It's not animation, it's a new live motion capture technology Microsoft developed with the RSC, you can see the real actor upstage towards the end of the video
