Royce Gracie vs. Bobby Ologun Sanma's Super Karakuri TV 2004 | Tokyo, Japan Exhibition bout with MMA rules in the openweight division.
Пікірлер: 240
@KogamineАй бұрын
Royce Gracie's opponent, Bobby Ologun, is a Japanese comedian of Nigerian origin. This event is a comedy show that took place during the famous (but old) Japanese comedy show "Sanma's Karakuri-TV". It is not a martial arts match. However, Bobby's physical abilities were so outstanding for a comedian that it created a martial arts-like atmosphere.

They missed out on the opportunity to show Royce's plane fly to Japan from Brazil and have the announcer say the country name just like in Street Fighter.
@KokoandFooFoo23 күн бұрын
@@andyusfca Bobby is definitely a comedian living in Japan, and has appeared on many Japanese comedy shows like Gaki No Tsukai; but I dont know what Bobby did before comedy.

I love listening to they Japanese play by play announcers, they sound so excited by the action they're narrating.

What was really scary is that Royce wasn't even the best grappler in his family. He was chosen by his family to show that a small guy could defeat even larger and stronger opponents.
@mouseboxersclassicmmaАй бұрын
Which Gracie do you think is the best pure grappler?
@mikeh.753Ай бұрын
@@mouseboxersclassicmma at that time I would say Rickson Gracie was. But a lot has changed in the whole Gracie family since then.
@ac2877Ай бұрын
Royce was not a small guy (6ft. 1in). I belive Renzo was smaller and Rickson was shorter. From what I read, Rickson could not be controlled by Rorion and chose Royce instead to start the UFC.
@hellasforever6242Ай бұрын
So why didn't they choose Royler gracie then? 😂
@alexanderfiedorov925Ай бұрын
@@ac2877 He was 'small' not in height, but overall, he was the skinniest and youngest at that time. And Renzo, although he is Gracie, he was too young at that time (1991) and he is from a lower level family tree, like Hyuuga Neji in Naruto hahah.

I give the Gracies their due, but I never seen a family that's made up of so many cry babies and sore losers. Royce was one of the worse. When lost, he always had an excuse. The fight was stopped to early or he wasn't in top physical shape. He got caught using steroids and didn't owe it. I've never seen so much bitching and moaning from one group in my life.

The Gracie family tried to push Royce as a great jj practitioner and next star of their style, but as it turned out he was nowhere near the talent that other family members were or became. But still he was a good fighter, against the right competition.

Royce worked as a nanny for his niece and was chosen precisely because he had never competed in a jiujtsu championship and had no athleticism, being a small man in which only technique could save him.

Royce is one of the Goats but he should of never been allowed to wear his Gi it gives him an advantage you can't really grip him also it absorbs punches and strikes.
@renatokl8246Ай бұрын
Digam o q.quiserem, mas o Royce foi o mais foda de todos...
I'm surprised Bobby had decent knowledge on the ground. Take at look at the old Gracie Challenge video to see how much stand-up fighters are clueless when grappling. When mounted, their legs are flailing about and if they somehow are on top position they get reversed rather easily. Bobby at least put up a good fight on the ground.
@smiley-qb3nt17 күн бұрын
Royce allowed him to do things this wasnt an actual real fight
For an actor Bobby did well on the ground and managed to injure Royce quickly and with few hits, so quite accurate
@mouseboxersclassicmmaАй бұрын
It would've been interesting to see how he'd do if he'd committed to the sport. He fought only once a year on event shows, and often jumped into the deep end with fighters much more experienced than he.
