the ideal would be to build stuff, and as a byproduct of that, you actually do something algorithmically interesting. but that's hard to do, so there is a balancing act in reality

I'd say the one positive thing about a certificate of completion is that it tells the employer that this applicant went through a course and at least has the knowledge of how this thing works. But if there are no projects in their portfolio, it shows they did nothing with what they learned. I've yet to get a certificate of completion, and I am working on it, but I've already built a program to make part of the process at work much faster and my branch manager has given me a couple challenges to increase my value

this is so true and hits deep ...i remember how many times i quit programiing ... and whatever u said in this video is 100% true .. i have been through this ... and it would help youngster .... what youngers see in the movies and twith live stream programmers is a fiction they prepare for that task or algoritm ...their are very few programmers who are awsome ....examples MOSH HAMEDANI, clement and coder train .....but they have years of experience.. do not blame your self they have been programing at the age of 12 ... we as a normal being starts getting familiar at age 20 22 ...and it would take at least 2 years in you train 8 hours per day solving 100 questions per day

hi Rahull, about building in secret: what advise can you give on how to deal with people who steal ideas & also end up doing nothing but taking credit for something that you did or built. most of these people are good at taking a system that you built and writing a blog about it. I've had this happening a lot and now I no longer feel like sharing anything.

Can you make a video on what to look for in a team during boot camp phase in meta? I understand this is a niche area, but maybe you can generalize it to what’s most important in growing as a dev? Is it working on impactful projects? Having a good manager/colleagues? Etc. I’m really grateful to you and this channel! :)

@@ElonMusk-ez5xz What does "boot camp phase in meta" mean?
@ElonMusk-ez5xz
@ElonMusk-ez5xz 2 жыл бұрын
@@skyhappy so meta has this thing called bootcamp, where once you’re hired you have the ability to select which team you’re going to work with. So I was wondering if rahul has any tips on how to go about selecting this team. Like what should one look for in a team? Is it the project? The teammates? The manager? The scale? Etc.

@@ElonMusk-ez5xz did you get into that? How did you get in? Or what do you think about you helped to get in?

@@skyhappy Yes, got into meta recently. Since my role is software engineer, a lot of the practice was just leetcode and just knowing my resume thoroughly. I also used pramp for mock interviews, and it's pretty helpful.

So true, I can identify myself with the Tutorial Hell; I did one tutorial for making a snake game on Pygame a few months ago. I did follow trough until the very end AND THEN I wondered myself if there could be a way for implementing an in-game shift from let's say "normal mode" to a "hard mode" wich would be automatically activated when you reached a certain score. For this "hard mode" I wanted the graphics and the music/sounds to suddenly change into something more menacing and the snake to start moving faster and faster after each food collected. I had to work around those ideas pretty much all by myself looking here and there into the pygame documentation for guidance but not for the exact answer. Long story short I ended writing my very first own methods and even defined a class that was nedeed in order to acomplish what I wanted to do with the game. It's so true that the real learning beggins when you "let go the hands of your teacher".

Great content. I need some help with career growth now that I have a career, and you're doing a great job at helping. One nit pick: it's "Alex and me" when you're the subject of the sentence. Example: "Alex and **I** went to an ice cream shop. The cute cashier gave Alex and **ME** another scoop of ice cream for free." In the second sentence, the cashier is doing something, and something is being done TO you.
@RahulPandeyrkp
@RahulPandeyrkp 2 жыл бұрын
My mistake. The rule I remember is to drop the other person and see if the sentence still makes sense, e.g. "Alex and I went to an ice cream shop" is correct b/c "I went to an ice cream shop" is also correct. Will be mindful of this going forward.
