How is asking what a role requires, a sign of you not being ready? I asked when i was in 1st line support, what 2nd line required. I moved to 2nd line the same month, as i was indeed qualified. If you don't ask, you don't know. This sounds like idiotic rumbling.

Senior engineers don't solve complex hard and ambiguous problems... They meet with stakeholders and ask appropriate questions to CLEAR up ambiguity, they meet with architects and other senior engineers to discuss the appropriate solve that fits into the current architecture. This take is a HUGE L! Juniors, don't fall for this non-sense.

So instead of being an engineer, you now need to be a product manager as well? So Staff Engineer = multiple positions but paid 1 person salary? Huh?

My understanding from her video, different roles. Different positions. Different payments. It’s like a manager at a store. Sure he can do the register when is needed but that isn’t his primary role

Section 174 is the reason for the mass layoffs in U.S. tech. As of 2022, section 174 requires companies to amortize R&D expenses (That's ANY programmer salary) over 5 years. This means companies must pay taxes on 80% of your salary, you also pay taxes, it is literally double taxation on R&D salaries. Notice that mass layoffs started around 2022. Accountants are very aware of this, but us engineers we never thing about this. This Republican poison pill was never repealed by Biden.

Hello Rahul, a big fan of your videos. I'd appreciate to have your insights on the question/topic (coming from a SWE in the automotive industry) "Would moving from a Senior Engineer level at a Big-name company, to a staff engineer in a smaller/startup(ish) company hurt your career. From the outside it looks like in the smaller company you would be wearing multiple hats and consequently gaining a broader experience in a less time that where I am currently at the large company. But the concern is "does the smaller company name would hurt me being employable in 3 to 5 years from today?" Does managers hiring at "principal/ Sr. Principal Engineer level" worries more about the skills (Tech/leading/business impact) more or the name of the employer?" Looking forward to your response

It will be great if you can find a similar story of an engineer in FAANG. Because in big tech companies it's not easy to get promoted so fast even with stellar work/impact. But if you can find someone who could manage that then it will be a very insightful session.

6:40 I have a counter point. What if we dive into project, ask for feedback but then learn the changes made is all wrong or testing is expensive? Teams will find any reason to pip or demote these days

Lot of contradictory advise - e.g speakers mention leet code style code is the trend and you should work on that. In another response they mention to not grind leetcode everyday. Wonder if there is any value to Taro premium. Seems lot of blowing their own trumpet.

Thanks a lot . I taught myself and have been working as software engineer / backend developer for Booz Allen Hamilton for the past two years. Now, I have a plan to start learning foundation of algorithms and datastructure by June this year. I also have so many side projects and In fact this is how I got job two years ago. Most google and Facebook recruiters reached out to me last year but I wasn’t ready since I didn’t know any algorithms and datastructure and I just told them I wasn’t ready to leave my current job. Thanks a lot.

key comment, "simple and light thread" all you are doing is taking out all of the error handling function. Most of those "60" lines of code are error handling giving you information back. Now when you get an error you have nothing telling you why.

I have seen all these things, one colleagues had worked with refused to remodel the commented out codes out of fear of loosing them and even back up code by email. One other sign of poor coding is that the code does not model objects. You see data flows and operations just like in any scripts.

Thanks to both of you guys. I am still earlier into my career. I have been professionally working for two years as Backend developer for Booz Allen developer and I am about to get promoted after delivering tons of great value to my current company. I remembered being scared by seeing the codebase. I remembered the first video I watched from the Founder of Taro saying that just figure out how to make a change and show it to your team and from there you could have a better conversation. He also mentioned to reach out to people who had worked on that particular codebase before and ask them for 5 minutes meeting and trust me they will be willing to help you out, which they did for me. I am seeing a lot of people trying to understand the documentation on day one when first joining a company and just overwhelmed by the amount of reading they might not even understand and also most documentation are not even updated.
