Loyalty and Honesty ... with a garnish of Integrity. A good start on clearing out the deadwood in one's life is applying such yardstick. Q: I have less than 5 people in my life I deem "friends." Because I got burned good by having the WRONG SORT in my life.

My wife is a true blessing, more than I deserve. Kids are a blessing as well. Friends they are honest and loyal.

I mean, default answer is my wife, but that feels like cheating the question. My friend J is the most loyal friend I have; absolutely 100% ride-or-die. We went paintballing almost 15 years ago, in a special little scenario game run by some tacticool milsim dudes. Rather than capture the flag or elimination, the objective was to get into the enemy team's base and open up a combination lock. He and I got in the other base and told him to cover me while I do the lock thing. Takes more than a few seconds to get the thing open with all the adrenalin going, but I get it open and turn around to tell J... And he's standing directly behind me. I expected him to go into a corner to cover the door or otherwise be somewhere reasonably safe, but nope! He decided that covering me was best done by putting himself directly between me and possible threats. It was just a paintball game, so obviously there were no serious consequences if he did get hit to protect me while I worked, but no one else I've met would have even considered that course of action. He's a good guy.

Only a minute or so in and had to pause the video to look up what the meaning of the text on your hat was. You have educated me today sir, and I need to hunt down one of those hats for myself. Honestly, I would not eat those brownies after hearing that. It would take a lot of peer-reviewed studies to change my mind on this one. A LOT. Pretty sure you can't find enough of em. With regards to the question of the vid. There are a few people in my life. One is very helpful. She gives me lifts to help me get sundries and is willing to hang and have a good time. Another is also very helpful and always is there when I need technical advice. A third is very honest with me and is willing to tell me if I've made mistakes and share advice. That one has told me I am the person he can say anything too without fear of being judged harshly on the spot. There have also been my pets, they have taught me a lot, funny as that may sound. There's a young lad I game with who is quite upfront with me and we can have smack talk. Similarly an older fellow who I can smack talk with. Those two are pretty close to siblings in my view. My departed biological brother, who encouraged me more than many. My departed grandmother, who was more of a parent figure to me than my biological parents. To a lesser extent there are a great many more who have provided enrichment or good advice, though I wasn't always wise enough to listen or correctly act on said advice at the time. There are also several people whom, despite not having seen me in years, still drop me a line now and again to check up on me.

I was fortunate enough to find my first best friend that had both discussed qualities in the first year of school - we've been friends for over 30 years now. Again in high school, once more in college, and lastly only a few years ago. I consider myself very fortunate to have found and kept such exceptional people throughout my life. A good life requires good friends.

Friendship is a coin that should not be spent too cheaply. Too often people use the term too freely.

Good one, sir!! My wife would be the best blessing. She married me at the start of my convention career and not only tolerated it, she was right by my side for every convention I worked - sci-fi and gaming convention - even when I was doing 6 events in one year! Even while we were raising kids! Another blessing was Jeff Smith, my partner in "crime" running the gaming cons. He passed in 2022 and I still miss him greatly. Also, my good friend John Reavis, who passed in 2012, one of the best gamers you would ever know and was loyal and honest all through his life. We gamed for 20+ years - Star Wars, Babylon 5, Star Frontiers and Shatterzone. Them were the days!! Thanks for this one, sir.

Amen! Excellent! One of the best I’ve had the privilege to listen to. Also Love the hat!!! Truth! Righteous and Biblical! Loyal and honest relationships built upon godly integrity and accountability are essential. Loyalty that perpetuates good! Honesty bathed in truth. Amen! In my life there is a purposeful order. God first, then my wife, children and a very few others who have the same conviction and standard as we have for ourselves. We purposely and intentionally let very few into our sphere. And we don’t apologize for it. In fact, we protect and advocate for this end. As iron sharpens iron. It's the Lord's work to be done the Lord's way according to His will touching on all of life and relationships.
