Today we start installing the best stone siding we have used to date. Versetta stone has been a favorite of ours for a long time. It is a great way to break up the siding on your home, and in my opinion, by far the most real looking and best faux stone siding on the market

Looking fantastic as always guys! I wish I would of went with that stone but it was backordered and I went with Gemstone, which is actually just closed cell foam made to look like stone, it's super easy to cut and install, I'm just worried how it will look after the summer heat gets to it, will have to see at the end of the summer. The guys finished up the install of my ceiling and I've been busy installing the lights and fans. I'm hoping they will install the wall tin next Tuesday, since it's supposed to storm again. Take care and don't work too hard guys!

Kyle, Love watching you and Greg work. You guys are a well oiled machine and really seem to love what you do. I'm a big fan of Versetta or Evolve Stone and plan on using it on my new house I'm designing now. I know Versetta Stone has the built in water/air channel behind it, but it seems like way too small a gap. Was curious about your reasons for not using a true rainscreen, like slicker max, behind the stone. I've been told that having a min 1/4" behind the cladding, is important to get the proper air flow to dry out any water that gets behind. Some building scientists encourage 3/4" for best results.

Looking great as always! For your corners, I wonder if you could cope or relieve the back of the overlapping piece. I’m thinking of those diamond blades that chuck into a grinder for cutting tile, but there could be a better tool. Like you said at 45:05 it will probably take more time and be messier, but it may yield a better product that is worth it. If you already have the tools, it’s at least worth hacking away at scrap pieces to go through the motions and test.

I'm always surprised Versetta doesn't have a corner pre cast available. Seems like a big oversight in their catalog... Would love to see and hear more about the gutter install and the big garage doors coming up. I grew up with Iowa hydrants as well (actually in Iowa) but I like hydrants on the building for the utility. I put them around the corner on both sides from the front about 3 feet up (none of this bending over nonsense and kinked hoses because they're too close to the ground.)

I've said it before, but it bears repeating: Versetta Stone should make corners, with asymmetric lengths, in a random pattern. Those would eliminate the raw edge issue ... which I find detracts significantly from the overall aesthetic.

Awesome stuff Kyle, the stone's looking really good! 😃👍🏼👊🏼 ... If you happen to end up with a bunch of Versetta that sit a little too high, have you ever tried hitting the bottom tongue with a a grinder to knock it down a bit? .... Being that you have various brands of cordless power tools, for the rare occasion that you end up on the porch wanting to charge your phone, I know that at least DeWalt and Milwaukee (probably other brands as well) make adapters/chargers for their battery packs so you can charge your phone, laptop, or other devices, so if you don't already have some of those hanging around in the shop, you might want to consider picking up at least one or two, could come in handy in a pinch, or in an emergency, just sayin', I'm not trying to sell you on it or anything, I myself have the DCB094K USB Charging Kit from DeWalt, and it pretty much just sits in the the tool bag with my drill and impact driver, but it's there if I ever need it.

With the gutters, I really hope that you’ll pipe the water away from the building with schedule 40 PVC! Don’t use any corrugated pipe because it blocks easily, gets crushed easily and is really hard to lay flat with enough fall. Make sure you have a decent number of down spouts too. I’m interested in where you’re gonna run the water.
