Not all Britishers of that era were bad, most were silently ignoring whatever happened thousands of miles away as it did not concern their day to day life and also because it was raising the prosperity of the general ppl of Britain. So even if most were not directly responsible for the atrocities, the civilization as a whole were responsible as they profited from the atrocities and did not rise up against the oppression being committed. Same can be said of the American population today as they engage in war after war in recent times - be it Vietnam, Iraq in 90s, Afghanistan etc etc.

What the young brits who get defensive need to understand is that their tenure in India damaged the civilizational thread of the land. Thats why now Indians who are waking up to the scale if destruction casued by the British are appreciating films like RRR more than ever even if they feel like a propaganda to the western audience. They just dont care. Brits get defensive because it puts them in a difficult spot as they cant get rid of the nasty stuff if they want to be proud of their imperial heritage. Any 'we gave them trains' argument is absolute bs because we wouldve got industries and trains anyway even without the British. Meiji Japan is an example of Indian counterfactual history. Yes today's Brits are not beholden to the sins of their ancestors but a little acknowledgment would be appreciated. Although we would be fine even without that.

In the book the Queen's daughter in india written by britishers, they told something about their cruelty in india. There were placed with each regiment(of about a thousand soldiers) from twelve to fifteen native women, who dwelt in appointed houses or tents. These women were allowed to consort with british soldiers only and were registered by the cantonment magistrate. On 17 june 1886 they ordered a infamous circular memorandum, according to which they forcefully admitted more and more women in prostitution. We used to have a great sport in india going out after crocodiles with hindu babies as bait. They looted 45 trillion dollars and killed around 1.8 billion people in 1757 to 1947.

railways, really... so, around 1600ad, English men obsessively wanted to be settled in India to build railways for us??? India could have bought any technology with the money and sources that were stolen, during that period. they used railways for their advantage, it wasn't a favour. I believe in let bygone be bygone, but i have also learned a lesson that "intentions matter". their intentions were cruel from the beginning to the end.

Colonialism was so vile in its conception and execution that one cannot defend it with a clear conscience.That’s why most of their descendants avoid the discussion or rationalize it to themselves by all the ‘good’ they did .They know (at least the rational ones) there is no justification for their behavior. And it’s tough to look up to such depravity in one’s lineage irrespective of whether India blames today’s generation or not( which it doesn’t).But anyone today who denies this wrongdoing (as the author of that article) is no different from his ancestors.

The thing about Railways is, the East India company build it just to take out raw materials from parts of India to different ports. It wasn't even available to the general public. You watched a video of "Tharur describing all these in Oxford University".

The Railways were given to India to Transport Loot from India that includes previous stones , Priceless Artifacts and Natural Resources. Also Indians were taxed for their own oppression so Basically Indians paid for those trains.

I had many issues with RRR and they portrayed brits as bad but it was tamed. That's fine. But there were a lot of bad Indians as well. It's not like all Indians were good and fighting for freedom. There were many traitors among Indians as well. But they just showed every Indians as nice victims. It's fictional but we need to acknowledge the evil systems that existed back then in India especially the horrendous caste system. The same thing brits were doing to the Indians was done by Indians on other Indians based on their caste. And for a long time and its still going on in many places.
@stuntbaazchhora6611
@stuntbaazchhora6611 2 жыл бұрын
You are not well informed. The caste system was never Indian. Just like the British many other European countries invaded India, one of them was Portugal and the word caste is derived from the Portuguese word ‘casta’. In the Manusmriti, it is being mentioned about the Varnas, which varna you belong to is decided by the deeds you do not by your birth, a Brahmin can become a shudra and a shudra can become a Brahmin and this has happened in Vishnupurana. The caste system as we know it today is the result of the wrong translation of Manusmriti, it was translated into English in 1776, by British philologist Sir William Jones. The original which is written in Sanskrit doesn’t even mention ‘castes’

@@Status_videos824 yea coz they are artist...we love their work, their art, beyond boundaries....but not those British who take pride in their history coz by doing this they unconsciously or may be consciously take themselves as superior to everyone which is actually what White supremacist theory is all about...and it's still relevant...had not India been what it is today they would have made sure that our history is moulded by them

I think we start talking about the British, we can go on and on about how much the British have looted many countries like India in the name of development and progress. Mind you, before the British stepped in to India, it was already one of the largest economies in the world at that time. With or without the British, India would have grown over time. Having said that, yes if you compared to the Japanese the British were better & eventually let india have it's independence. So yeah, RRR definitely displayed more of their bad side despite being partly fictitious in it's storyline itself. And like Jaby said, the British of the now are not the British of the past. At same time It's important to learn from the past so that things like that don't repeat in the now. HIStory remember?
