Bheems intro that you were stating was equally important and that can't be cut down. He was trying to capture a wolf for later purpose and in that attempt he had to capture the tiger. He has been capturing them to rescue Malli by crashing the party with truck full of wild animals

22:44 bheem introduction pays off bro he was catching tiger and other animals to use in palace entry scene where he carries all the animals in truck and thrown at britishers Sorry for bad English

Fair point! I was thinking about things that could technically be cut without without damaging the story, and while that payoff is absolutely there I don't think that setup is particularly needed as the payoff comes so far down the line that it doesn't really feel all that connected. But like I said, I still wouldn't want to cut that sequence because more than the palace fight payoff I think it's critical to establishing Bheem. And your English is great, by the way!

@@ThePestlePodcast I think there's a clear trail of crumbs being left here that makes the first scene essential. 🔹Bheem and tiger - establishes his character and introduces the idea of the tribespeople capturing animals 🔹Friendship montage - furthers the plan to rescue Malli by showing Bheem carrying a slab of meat into a pen and you think, "Oh, they kept the tiger" 🔹Palace raid - Subverts your expectations. It wasn't just a tiger. They were in that jungle for months and they've captured a menagerie of beasts as a diversion for their plan.

@@ThePestlePodcast There are actually quite a few payoffs that follow the rule of 3 in this film. 🔹The animal raid 🔹The opening drumbeats of Naatu Naatu becoming their bro signal 🔹The piggyback fight 🔹The value of a bullet speech

@@nevaladder Well said! It definitely wasn't obvious when watching but you're absolutely right, definitely a crumb trail there with a closer viewing. Thanks for the thoughtful response! - Wes

one thing i dont understand with foriegn reviews is that they complain about the movie being 3 hours but they have time to do a 1 hr long review talking about it.

I don't have a problem with 3 hour films, foreign or not, some incredible movies run 3 hours, I just didn't think this film needed to be 3 hours to get its maximum effect. As we discussed it's a personal taste.

YOU GUY'S NEED TO DO A REVIEW OF THE MOVIE NAMED " LAGAAN ". COULD DO IT WITH PARTICULAR SCENES AND SNIPPETS POPPING UP ON SCREEN DURING YOUR CONVERSATIONS YOU MIGHT BE TALKING ABOUT ? THAT COULD BE A WELCOME ADDITION, ESSPECIALLY WHERE ACTUALLY A MOVIE IS NOT BEING REACTED TO.

Reduce the heighted emotions? Yes we have that kind of movies too. But this is not that kind of movie. We have 5 different movie industries which produce about 200 movies a year each. So among 1000 films that is made every year, we have all the variety possible. Explore more indian movies.

I've seen other Indian films, but we were discussing RRR. I wasn't saying to reduce the heightened emotions, I was discussing the heightened tone as a style, which is totally fine, but that my personal taste doesn't really line up with it and how far the stylization was being pushed. I was discussing my own personal taste, as one does in a review. There's some wonderful moments for sure, and overall a really fun and entertaining movie, some things worked for me and others didn't. Art is always different for everyone, right?

Just came across this review and really liked your take. Based on your review a good suggestion for you is Sardar Uddham Singh based on a similar time period and a mostly true story with a great cinematography and much more toned down than RRR which I think you would appreciate.

The more Indians movies you watch the more you find the difference between Bollywood or Tollywood or any other wood to be honest. Btw both RRR and Bahubali are Tollywood not sure what else you have watched but yea

Yeah for sure, realized that Bahubali was Rajamouli after I edited the episode, but probably my favorite Indian film I've seen is The Lunchbox, not sure where that falls on the spectrum but it's wonderful regardless.

About song explaining i think is English it's way to obvious but in original they use old style majestic words which only let the audience feel the situation rather than tell the story kije English subtitle .

@@mariussorohan938please don't act like only Bollywood does remakes. Kangana's Queen was remade into all 4 south Indian languages. 3 idiots was also remade with Vijay in Tamil. Even band baja barat was remade with Nani. So it goes both ways.
