In this video we talk about what is involved in building the Audi RS3 & TTRS DAZA/DNWA/DNWC 5 cylinder engine. I go through the timing procedure and also provide a little bit of insight into what makes the stock piston on this engine so special. We also talk about this engines weak point and what we do to strengthen the engine.
If you have any questions please leave a comment and I will get back to you.

Loved the video, very informative. Would you be able to do a video on the CZGB and CEPA engines, the good and bad points, it would be super interesting to watch. Keep up the great work lads!

Love this guys, your knowledge is un-rivaled! I know where I will be bringing my RS3 once I've saved up enough! Roughly how much would this build cost? Engine build + mapping, drive in, drive out? Keep it up lads, love these informative videos! :)

Thank you so so much, that means a lot and I look forward to continuing to bring you videos like this. If your engine is in running condition we will build it for £7k and supply a 3 year 40k mile warranty with it. 7 day drive in drive out turnaround package.

@InfinitPerformance refreshing to see a price given for the work and not the normal "contact us for a price" so they can try and push the hard sell. You can keep this price in mind when actually looking to buy an RS3, great content and like many other people keep saying your knowledge seems 2nd to non. Also to offer a 40k millage warranty is unheard of, fair play and keep up the great content

@@nickarmstrong4458 I 100% agree, was surprised I was given a price to be honest haha. These guys are clearly very open an with their knowledge, these guys would be the top pick for getting a built engine! As and when the opportunity arises, of course.

DO you know where can I buy the timing tool kit for this engine ?

So I’m assuming using the stock pistons with the aftermarket rods it wouldn’t need to be balanced? I know these engines have super tight clearances but I’ve heard people say both ways. If they don’t need to be balanced what rods are they then? I’m really wanting to do just rods in mine because of mileage and wear on pistons and block, but if they have to be balanced I think that’s gonna be more work then I would be able to do.

When you say you got stock pistons up to 850hp. Do you mean 850whp or 850bhp? Also, what torque levels do you push stock pistons to with upgraded rods? Lmk Thank You.
@InfinitPerformance
@InfinitPerformance Жыл бұрын
Well from my experience 850 American whp is the equivalent of 850 crank European hp. I limit the stock pistons to 850 European crank hp.

Great video refreshing no secret squirrel stuff was blown away that no upgraded head studs after rods what would be your next upgrade
@InfinitPerformance
@InfinitPerformance Жыл бұрын
The stock head studs are monsters on this engine. After rods, we would be looking at upgrading the pistons for high torque applications. The stock piston is a cracking design but the metal is not that strong and can shatter with bad tuning on heavily boosted applications.

@@InfinitPerformance The correct way to do it. I've been telling people for years the 1,000 mile break-in the dealership tells them is BS. The only thing you really need to worry about is seating the new rings to the cylinder wall hone. And that happens pretty quickly.

Aoon: Is there no need to balance the crank when doing rods and retaining stock pistons?
@InfinitPerformance
@InfinitPerformance Жыл бұрын
Good question! I do not deem it necessary to balance the crankshaft itself based on this engines use case. So for example this is our Stage 1 engine build w/ 3 year 40k mile warranty. No turbo setup on 99 octane fuel with or without power adders is making power past 7500rpm up till the 850hp marker. The crankshaft comes with 4 different clearance sizes for the tolerance in the crank bearings from the factory, the rod bearings come with 1 which means these cranks leave on extremely tight tolerances from the factory. We do balance the rods & pistons within 0.3g of the lightest. If we were doing a build for an application that was going to be making power past 7500rpm and consistently be in the 8krpm range, along with a balanced rotating assembly there would be other changes I would be making to the engine. We actually have a build underway which I will showcase next month (G35-1050). This client is looking to do the occasional drag day so would like to have E85 capability, I will note though that even the G35-1050 is not making power past 7500rpm on a ported head on 99 + power adders... Once you go past the G35-1050 size of turbo you are introducing huge amounts of lag and a car that is simply a drag car at that point and will not be enjoyable at all to use on the road, we are very limited in the UK as we do not have easy access to E85. We like to build cars that are daily drivable and enjoyable hence rarely ever going above the G35-1050 or Xona 8264S size of turbocharger. If I had any doubt in my mind about the above, our engine build programme for this platform would be hugely unsuccessful. We have built over 50 engines in the last 3 years with more than 20 running for over 2 years now. Only Audi have the balls to warrant the engine for 3 years and 40k miles. From the knowledge gained over the last 5 years of working on this platform, when hardware and software are working in perfect harmony I am more than confident to offer the same level of warranty.
