I meant that the monetary value of an art piece is arbitrary since I was responding to a 'gotcha' statement that points out that most people drool over what was once a mundane painting. I am not saying that art is worthless. I am saying that his argument isn't the most convincing to people that don't care about art.

@@TheWoollyFrog Ah, I see. Either way though, his point was mostly to shut down the idea that art is "just" a few scribbles and isn't worth anything. Hence pointing out that one of the more valuable things in the world is literally just some dude having splashed some paint onto a canvas in a certain way, disproving the notion that something doesn't have any/much value because it's "just" a drawing/painting/etc.

I never understand how Choosing Beggars think "I saw someone selling it for lower" would change people's mind. Did they expect them to say "Oh really? I had no clue! I guess I'll have to lower my price then!"

When I was a child, I often slept on milk crates with blankets on them or, if lucky, a couch. When I slept on a bed, due to my violent way of sleeping, it wound up with a massive hole in it. It was a spring mattress. I am a human Skarmory! Lol

@Meme Man Many parts of the US water is not free, but it's generally so cheap as to be inconsequential, usually a few cents per gallon. The apartment I'm in at the moment does include water for free, but the last house I lived in I think our water bill was maybe $40 a month and that was with 3 people using it. It really only gets expensive if you were to pointlessly leave it running for hours or if maybe if you owned a pool it might cost you a notable amount that month when you fill it.

It's not just commissions, either. You see it a lot with incels and other unsavory types where they'll start off by trying to flatter the other person by calling them beautiful or hot or whatevers. But the second that something happens that they don't like, it's "You dumb ugly b*tch, you weren't even that good looking anyways." I could almost swear that it comes from some subconscious knowledge that they're asking/demanding something completely unreasonable or outright ridiculous and need to soften someone up first before making a deal.

Applebee's is nasty. I mean REALLY nasty. They pre-cook the meat and "heat it fresh to order." The vegetables are frozen. Everything you get there, if it isn't something deep-fried like french fries, has clearly been microwaved. I've gotten food there that was still partially frozen. If a guy took me to Applebee's, I'd leave too. Not in a huff because I wanted something more expensive, but because we'd be driving to the nearest Taco Bell or McDonald's, which are both better than Applebee's, and cheaper. Better yet, we could stay in and cook.

Rslash: found a channel that I think youd like. Channel name is "Dustin is driving." Hes a uber/lyft driver and he haa videos for every ride. The crazy he has to put up with is perfect for your channel. There's a ton of karens, kevins, malicious compliance, revenge, etc. It's not just dustins channel that does this though. A few other drivers do it as well. Have fun!

I work in a hospital and unfortunately medicare has turned it into a very "customer" service industry. We have to send out patient satisfaction surveys and those are judge against every other medical facility in America. The top 10% get a higher reimbursement rate and the lowest 10% get a smaller amount. Now i agree with being nice to people but we have to be retail nice or else, i don't know how many times i just wanted to tell the person to stop being stupid and let me do my job, i don't care what fake reason you are here for or what drugs you are allergic to.

The 14th amendment guarantees the right to bodily autonomy. This means that forcing an unnecessary medical device upon somebody is a violation of their rights.....even if you claim it's to "save them" from a virus with a greater than 99% survival rate.

Yesterday, someone in Deviantart asked me if I could design a character for them, not just draw one of their OCs. I told them that designing a character would be more in the comission (aka, paid work) department, and since drawing is a hobby of mine, and I don't want to turn it into a job (that was what gave me a 10 years artist block, no thank you), I told them I couldn't do it. To my surprise, that person said "don't worry, I understand". I wished them good luck with their character, and they thanked me and wished me a good day. So yes, there *are* nice people out there :D.

Okay BUT with the first one: there was a situation in my home town where a woman tried to get a bus stop changed from across the street from a busy road to a safer location, and the school didn't pay attention. One day last year (or the year before I'm not sure) all 3 of her kids got hit while walking up to the bus, and all passed away. I hate entitlement as much as the next guy, but situations like that warrant an exception imo
