RTC Big LED Clock with Arduino

This video is uploaded as most of fans wanted a detail video about the project. You can watch complete tutorial by this video.
This project is based on arduino RTC module. It can be stored memory the real time. You can use normal LEDs but need to use same color and same brand of LEDs, If you have selected different kind of LEDs, some LEDs may be glowed than others.
Most of arduino beginners had prepared this project and also successfully completed.

Hello, to connect the segments a-b-c etc, that you use as a common anode driver a 1k resistor and a bc547 or double transistor bc547 with bc557

This is an old project. I think I have used common anode. But you can use either ways .Read my web tutorial. Now I am working on a big LED clock with new upgrades. I will upload the details once it is completed. 😀

sir i mead this clock the only one problem when i change the 12 to 24 hour 1 to 12 am timer is display but the 1pm to 12pm not display but the serial display right value but display is not what is problem but the 24 hour time is prefect display

What is the principle of using double transistor, in Anode pin or Cathode pin of LED of SSD. Please inform me.

Arduino pin gives you +5v signal. you can use only one transistor to give negative voltage to an LED. But if you want to give +5v using a transistor, you have to use two transistors.

Thanks for sharing this fantastic project.i completed the project.every segment with 5 LEDs,6 digits,Arduino Nano,power 5V and 2.5 Amps. i have issue with the 1 and 2 digits of hours.all 7 segments are on and flicker in unison with the last digit of second , with different brightness.the other four digits are running like a charm .what could be the issue.Thanks a lot.

yes. it is because your data not keep in the memory. But you can do it using EEPROM codes or simply using a push on/off button switch.

Time delay can be adjusted changing the value of brightness. But due to the deference of the quality of the components some delays occur. When arduino is connected to PC, signal transfer between PC and arduino, therefore LED may blink.

I have no use transistor in proteus file. Line number 33 when RTC_DS1307 RTC; library file showing error. When I erase RTC_ & only DS1307 RTC; having code successfully compiled.Please sir help me.And which type display I should use the given code?

yes, you have to enable 1st digit. change the code if the timp value is lover than 100000 to add a zero in front of the timp value.

Clock working fine,but I have question 1. Clock showing 0:00 instead of 12:00 at midnight? 2. PM LED glowing at 1:00PM instead of 12:00 PM? In intro video your clock showing 12:10 with PM LED glowing but in my case PM LED not glowing at 12 PM. Please reply Any help please?

since it it 24h, it shows 00: instead of 12. you have to change the mode to 12h clock to 24h

Actually i modified a 50 ton weighing machine remote 6 digit 4 inch display for this project . It built with a AVR controller and uln2003 display driver. i removed the 40pin AVR controller and applied signal from arduino nano to corresponding pin for display. when i run the project it work fine but with dim display. when i changed the display brightness in code from 20 to 100 the brightness increased, but it affect the seconds. mean that after 1... display jumped to 3.. and 5... so on...

hope the current and voltage is sufficient, since its already in working condition as a weighing display.

@@pandiarajan464 Yes, you can only fine tune the brightness of the LEDs as it is happened to jump the numbers of seconds due to a changes in brightness. If you have changed the numbers of LEDs, calculate the current requirement for one SSD and check the maximum capacity of current that the Transistor able to handle. When the LEDs are increased you may have to change the transistors suitable for the Display as the transistors are working as ultra-speed switch to On/Off the displays. And also check the diodes and regulators as they can handle limited current only.

Yes, you can. If you do so, you the toggle switch to 12 hr 24 hr is no more needed. @@setnfix Re declaration of int DIM = 0; this is the error message . That's why the code was not compiling but I delete one declaration then it compiling successfully and it working onley on 12 hour 's thanks .

Found the problem. I didn't add 12hr24hr switch. Thats why. Now i just add a pullup 10k on A3 now ok

Nice. I have done few modifications to accurate the time. watch this video kzfaq.info/get/bejne/gZ1gocxkxsCteHU.html. you can use same transistors used in this video. I think 6 LEDs x 7 = 42 per segment.

It is because of the issue with RTC module. Check my updated clock with new RTC module.

@@sonuala5671 Ok. you have to adjust the brightness level in the code. According to the changes of quality of the components, this can be happened. Use high quality Crystal for RTC module.
