RTX 4070 Super | Horizon Forbidden West PC Benchmark | 4K, 1440p, 1080p

In this video we'll benchmark Horizon Forbidden West on the Geforce RTX 4070 Super. We'll be testing at 1080p, 1440p, 4K, on multiple graphics presets, as well as make use of DLAA, DLSS Super Resolution, and DLSS Frame Generation.
Horizon Forbidden West is one gorgeous looking game, and while it launched in 2020 on the PS5, it only launched a few hours ago on the PC. It supports AMD's FSR, Nvidia's DLSS, as well as Nvidia's Reflex and Frame Generation.
The RTX 4070 Super is a very capable 1440p GPU, and here we test Horizon Forbidden West on PC at even 4K, where it still does very well when some upscaling is being used.

Hi, great video, Im looking for a good monitor QHD, my GPU it´s an RTX 4070 Super, just for play, what kind of monitor did you use for the test?suggestions?

My main monitor is a Dell 32" 165hz 1440p monitor, which has a VA panel. I would look for an IPS panel or OLED if at all possible as sometimes the VA panel has a lot of ghosting / smearing, but it does have a great contrast ratio. LG monitors are quite popular and are very decent, so my suggestion would be something like a 27" 1440p IPS / OLED 144hz monitor from LG.

HFW isn't a real next-gen game to be honest, but it's still a very pleasant open world title. The VRAM usage tells all of the story. This game was made to run on PS4. Again, it's a great game tho.

should the nvidia profile have rebar on for this game ? i got it disabled. system/bios rebar on if the game doesn't actually have it on in the profile and if you're not forcing it wouldn't make any difference.

I have seen some people claim about 5% performance uplift by manually enabling ReBAR, but it would definitely depend on each system I would say.

Your clock speed is lower than 120mhz compared to my friend's 4070s. Do you have low end edition of card? Cause he has gaming oc.

Yeah, this is a Palit Dual 4070 Super, no OC model and also very average cooling.

If your MSI is getting 40 fps no matter what setting. Update your bios. It happened to me. Went to over 120 on high settings with a 7800x3d and a dual 4070.

I love about 2024 that you can get 4K maxed out visual fidelity at 90 fps with a $599,- card. DLSS frame gen and upscaling are absolutely worth the ~20% you pay over a similarly powered AMD card if you're a story-driven singleplayer gamer!

No, you! But on a serious note, it's a damn good looking game, that performs better than what the visuals would suggest. Will be playing it for a few weeks as I enjoyed HZD, so hopefully this continues that awesomeness.

Oh yeah, for sure! The 4070 Super is about 10-15% faster than the 4070, depending on the game, but without an FPS counter nobody would even notice the difference between 62 fps and 68 fps. Or even between 100 fps and 110 fps.

Not bad. I play 4K DLSS High on a 3060ti at 50fps and if I set the aspect ratio to 21:9 at 3840x1600 then it's 60fps+. This game is not only next gen, it runs amazing too. Goes to show how lazy other devs are getting these days.

the game looks pretty good and doesnt even use RT at all, very impressive. the 4070 super does pretty good at 1440p and excellent at 1080, good card, low Vram usage wich means good optimization i wish more games were like this.

I really want a 7900GRE to test with, but from what I can find online Nvidia and AMD perform pretty much how you'd expect them to. 4070 Super silghtly faster than 7800XT and around the same, maybe slightly slower than 7900 GRE. I only saw one benchmark though, but all 3 these were very close to each other.

@@Mostly_Positive_Reviews yea, the gre seems to be slightly faster according to GN. im buying a new gpu very very soon and have it narrowed down to the 7900gre or 4070 super. Although im leaning to the 4070 super for dlss since the vram usage doesnt seem to be as big of a problem as its made out to be, but i havent ever used dlss so i have no clue how it actually looks/performs compared to fsr. Also the 4070 super is only ~R600 more than the gre. since you have modern amd and nvidia cards which differences have you found with them? Is the nvidia features really that much better than amds as everyone makes it out to be?

At the risk of sounding like an Nvidia shill, at 1080p and 1440 especially DLSS is a huge advantage over FSR. That might change soon though with FSR 3.1 that was just announced, so I'd say wait for reviews on when it gets implemented. Because we live in South Africa, Nvidia also has the power efficiency advantage. During loadshedding I run off an inverter and then capping the power limit to 70% the 4070 uses around 140w. Those are the two reasons why I personally use Nvidia in my own gaming rig.

@@Mostly_Positive_Reviews I have done a lot of research the last few days and have seen that dlss is a lot better. Power efficiency is nice too like you said. Also from what ive seen the 7900 gre and 4070 super are very close in raster performance. Thanks for all the replies :)

I went with the 4070S. I play at 1440p and it smashes every game.
