This video shows two ways to prevent extra-long rubber strands from unwinding completely before major imbalances can occur. The Gizmo Geezer Assembly probably works in a similar way, unfortunately I haven't had one in my hand yet.

Thanks for watching and commenting. Currently, I would no longer bother to adjust the spring tension, but with the number of turns during braiding to avoid sagging or bunching up of the rubber.
