It looks like Microsoft has shut down the server that allowed for Windows 7 & 8.1 to be upgraded to Windows 10/11 for free. If you are upgrading from Windows 10 to 11 - that is still possible, but Windows 7 & 8.1 users will no longer be able to upgrade to Windows 10 for free. This loophole lasted for 7 years, it is sad to see it end - but it was inevitable. Sorry everyone.

I can’t say thank you enough. I am a senior citizen and not very computer savvy. I was scarred to death to try this but I watched your KZfaqs several time. I Did a back up and started feeling pretty brave. Then , I jumped on board. It took a few hours for everything to install but BINGO!! It all transferred and nothing lost. Now, the look is a little different and I may wade through that for a few days, but , I’m pretty pleased with the transition. Thank you from an old lady😉

Worked great my computer is now windows 10 from 8.1. If you're having trouble with the app saying "can't run app on this computer" you need to download a patch to fix it. Then it will work. After fully updating everything it worked smoothly without flaw. Please uncheck "install updates" If you don't it will take 1-3 hrs to do the full installation. You can install updates after o.s. is up to date and they'll just run in the background instead of tying up your computer unable to use it. Always back up files first. I have an external hard drive i copy and paste my files to. Secondly it is wise to create a restore point before installation should it not go correctly you can reboot it and go into the bios to restore it. You saved me about $500 by me not buying the os from best buy + the new version of m.s. office. Totally unnecessary.

I have a windows 7 desktop pc and every time I get to point where I choice to either upgrade this pc now and create installation media it says there was a problem running this tool we’re not sure what happened, but we’re unable to run this tool on is pc with the error code 0x80190194 - 0x90019 I have no clue if this is fixable or not but if you know how to please tell me

Win 10 upgrade failed due to failed product key. This is an Asus purchased with Win 8.1 installed at Best Buy. I do have a key but have no way to enter. Suggestions?

Thank you for people on youtube who enjoy posting tutorials and how to vids. Geek squad will do things for you but as I found it was a waist of money. Especially because you don't really learn anything if someone else does it for you. I noticed most of them were just google experts or went to youtube and I can do that no problem.

I was able to update from windows 8.1 to windows 10 but the system becomes very slow after upgrading the OS. When i click on any application or settings or any browser then it is taking minimum 20 to 25 seconds to respond. What can i do now to get it sorted.

MS doesn't want you to know this, but they have not stopped sending through regular MS Security Essentials definitions downloads and monthly updates to Windows 7 Pro. Still a better idea to get moving as more and more apps shutter access to the system.

I have windows 8.1. I have tried several time to uppgrade to WIndows 10, but my PC hanging at Installation process att 31 % then I get totally stuck :-( I Have I3 Processor a lot 12 Mb of Ram and 35 GB of free disk space.

I would try creating a USB version of the installer and install that way. Sometimes in place updates can have issues.

I’m not sure if you can use the same serial for both a windows 7 and 10 system at the same time. I believe if you activate that serial on 10 the other OS would deactivate.

Your video got me through the download of the upgrade from 7 to 10, but my machine is still running 7 despite that. My HDD space is, however, about 6 GB less than before the apparent upgrade. So I'm saving W10 as media on a drive. I updated my LAN wireless driver. After rebooting, I'll be running SFC/SCANNOW from the command prompt for corrupt files. Clues are welcome.

Yes you can. It should be able to recognize your existing install and give you the option to upgrade it from there.

As I recall, the last time I did a system version upgrade (not the clean wipe), I had to also uninstall/reinstall a number of programs (namely the Adobe CS suite). I currently have CS3 on a Windows 8.1 OS.

I got my first personal laptop in 2013. It was a Windows 8.1 that my gran used to have before she passed away. Strangely 2-3 years later, it automatically updated to Windows 10. I didn't do anything to it to upgrade from 8.1 to 10 and I don't know how. Can anyone explain how this was possible?

I updated from 8.1 to 10 using the link, it downloaded fine. However it's not letting me activate. Edit: I managed to get it activate but I had to go through Microsoft Support, it was still free though.

@@Kitingaful HI. Found solution that worked from another Technician. I erased all earlier versions of Media download. Then did this. Typed in, " Media Creation Tool Windows 10". And it worked. Hope this helps. Good Luck 🤞.

I followed all the steps and after installation my computer restarted, but when it logged back on it was still windows 8.1??? No errors or pop ups or anything. What went wrong? :( This is so damn frustrating.

@@r-six3845 This guy does not really talk about the updates needed no matter how you update W7 OR 8 YOU MIGHT NOTICE MANY UPDATES WON'T DOWN LOAD ON 7-8. many blocking problems will happen to prevent a down load or update. my w-7 problem code 80073712 Fixed the resolution and it turn tight back to w 7 as windows 10 won't seem to except it because other down loads won't work.. try code above but not sure it might work for you unless you noticed it al ready. its soppose to be a resolution fix but it and it fixed my W7 resolusion and matched it with 10 but still a problem. and yes my windows HOME PREMIUM IS STILL ACTIVATED. GEE'S

@@trafficjon400 I fixed my problem. I had a backup on a ssd before I attempted any upgrades. After multiple failed fixes I put in the SSD backup and windows 10 upgraded first try no problems and activated.. Weird fix, not sure what caused it, but glad that headaches over regardless. Saved all data and apps that way. Always back your shit up!! Thx.

@@r-six3845 Yep dam it i lost mine gave up looking for it but it might still be around. ya i forgot to back up a 12GPR lap top big mistake. i guess i'll do that also have no choice. it tells me strait out to try it but time takes its toll when a bad memory sets in because of other unnecessary crap going on in this time of life. @@r-six3845 Actually what am i talking about i had this lap top for 20 years and hardly use it. but i forgot i stored 12 Gigs of Ram in it . Windows 7 Home Premium still works great in it as its Faster than my 4 g linux and acer Desktop but not my Dell maximum Laptop. I think its worth downloading 11 on it. I have also around 30 RAM CHIPS can fit ACER DELL TASHIBA and others 2500 Gigs worth. the mother boards are high effectiveness center with higher gold covering for memory in the memory with out heating up. just 1 heated up excepting a higher ram rate. 15 hard drives working well except 1 i accidently bumped wile taking it some place to show it worked well big mistake. Man you have to be gentle with these hard drives and especially 2 of the plastic ones must be pretty cheap taking them out of 2 laptops taken out of a dumster behind a used PC shop. They work fine but they break easy.

You have to have a dvd to install 10 on win7 I’ve been at this for a month this guy is obviously not installing it on 7 or he would know it doesn’t work
