1. Look ahead starts from inspection 2. ACTUALLY SLOW DOWN 3. Don't look at the pair you are currently doing 4. See where new information is coming from 5. Memorize what certain algs do to certain pieces

If you can’t solve a pair without looking at it, do this drill: 1. Scramble up your cube 2. Look at the cross solution & solve it without looking 3. Then, look for your first F2L pair & solve it without looking 4. Repeat that for F2L pairs 2, 3 & 4 5. To add on, do more than one step, so multiple F2L pairs at once without looking, x-cross to any extent, and cross + 1 or more F2L pairs. You can also lookahead to last layer.

Patrick Doyle I didn’t come up with the idea. I was watching a sub 30 video, and then I asked if I should switch my A-Perm alg to the standard alg. One of the tips he said to become sub 30 was to have all LL algs under 2.5 seconds, so if it’s a good alg, then practice it, and if it’s a bad one, then learn a proper one & practice that. The alg I used to use was the T-Perm with Rw moves instead of R moves, and then the mirror. I also said about all of the other algs that I know. He obviously said that I should work on F2L because being sub 35 and knowing 16 PLLs & 30+ OLLs obviously means that my F2L is bad. That was one of the tips he gave me. And I did switch to the standard RUD algs. Actually, here’s the link to the video: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/qdCoebaVr9PIp4U.html

AdSF I haven’t tried it much, but it seems to make sense, and some faster than me told me about it in a reply on his sub-30 video. You should also learn more efficient solutions, understand them intuitively, and get them fast. J Perm explains about it in his new sub 30 video that he recently uploaded: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/Z7GWoN2Fyt27qX0.html

This actually helped me a lot. Its crazy how something as simple as saying "Don't look at the pair youre already doing" can spark a realization. Ive been focusing too hard on the pair I'm inserting when I already knew exactly what to do to insert it without looking. I'll be back with an update after a little while of using this new information in my solves.

Jperm this tutorial is AWESOME. You're great with both hands which is a plus. I particularly liked the case with the diagonally opposite edge pieces in that it gives me the liberty of setting up and solving two f2l slots simultaneously. Also, the link with the F2ls is super helpful as well. It would be really helpful if you would please do a tutorial on solving two f2ls simultaneously. Thanking you so much in advance.

i have bad efficiency because I learned something else and I got so used to doing it that even though I know the algs I don't do it. Also I am having trouble finding pieces so I insert the edge and pair the corner later once it comes up. I know all the f2l algs, I just can use then cause I can't find any pieces. This is probably the only reason I can't sub 10, because my f2l is super inefficient. Do you have any tips on how I can adjust to the alg solving way?
@JPerm
@JPerm 7 жыл бұрын
+Ryan Wu Changing habits/Algs is all about discipline. When you practice, accept the really bad times you get when you try to do the right thing, because eventually it will make you faster! Even if you have to pause for 5 secs or undo the moves you just did, make sure you end up doing the efficient thing.
@rwu0812
@rwu0812 7 жыл бұрын
Oh I get it! So you want me to slow down and do the efficient way, and keep on doing it so I will eventually get used to it and will get faster! Thanks! Also I have trouble finding pieces and they are not usually in the top layer. They usually end up in the bottom or the wrong slot. I think it's inefficient to make the pair in the wrong slot and take it out and put it in the right slot. Any tips?

yeah i understand how you feel, i think everyone had that problem at the beginning. i think you just need to practice until it becomes more natural. F2L look ahead (the topic of this video) is not for beginners, but is more useful for people averaging under 30 seconds, maybe 25 seconds. keep practicing and you'll get better at seeing pieces!

Solve EACH f2l case BLIND FOLDED, this will help you to NOT focus on your current pair. And do slow solves, so you can track corner and edges easily by reducing your TPS, and DON'T focus on your current pair, let your muscle memory handle your current f2l pair, while your muscle memory is handling your current pair, try to focus on the other pair, cuz you're no longer focused on your current pair, let your muscle memory handle it.

A lot of hard work and practice and a bunch of the points in my tutorials too. Anything more specific will probably need its own video because there's just so much.

Work on your first pair in inspection and in cross. Theres probably a long lag time in between your cross and your first pair
