I originally started with emerald/steel weightset due to that top 8 build, but found it lacked good impactful characters that still worked with weight set and removal. Went to Ruby/Steel and found better success, but my build was bad. This is a great build to help me improve it :) Thanks for this showcase

Very excited to try this, thanks! It's the two inks I haven't used yet this format, so I was looking for a way to pair them. I also appreciate the alternative cards you mention so I have an idea of what to sub in if I'm short on anything. I may use 2 Kronks to sub for 2 Big Tinks, since I don't have 4 of.

Love the idea and i think it has some potential in set 3 with some shiny new toys. Best thing about playing the deck is shifting herc on turn 5, procing weight set and saying "Do you even shift bro?"

I was eager to paly Ruby/steel already in May before release of set 1, but couldn't find a list that worked after set 1 and set 2 release. This looks really promising. I wonder how it starts to perform if there are some more quality options for subpar cards like Naveen. Great deck building!

One of my games was against Steel Discard but I didn't show it because it was pretty boring. That matchup tends to be pretty luck-dependent across the board, but I think Ruby and Steel are both pretty strong colors against Discard.

This was my favorite deck of last format and I’ve been struggling to find a deck I enjoy in the Into The Inklands meta. If you were to play this is the current meta, are there any changes you would make? Would really like to give this deck another shot. Thanks man!

Hi Steadfast, again a great Video from you, thanks a lot. Of course I would love to see more about this ruby/steel colour combination. I also played this combination in set 1 with AWNW as draw engine, it made a lot of fun to play but unfortunately i had to accept that this didnt work out as a meta deck. I hope you will practicing more with this combination and maybe even find a way to make this Work consistently against current meta. ❤ Maybe this is the best Version to keep up with the meta, like you showed. 😊

I think WNW works great (and I want to test it more), but during testing this week haven't really missed it! Weight Set provides such consistent draw, and even against Steel decks that would Benja my WSet away, they often end up playing WNW for me anyway! That said, I don't think this deck threatens any top meta spots just yet.

For now - add in 4x Lawrence over Naveen/Baloo as he activates WSet! I’ve been testing WNW and Tragic Beast as well.

@@ssteadfast For sure and thanks! I added 4x Lawrence and went with 2x Shere Khan instead of Baloo. When Shere Khan works he’s sick, when he doesn’t he’s just ink. Also I might try 3x You Can Fly, surprisingly useful. Edit - Shere khan works best when you have 2 on board, so for it to work best you’d need to run 4, and I don’t think 4 slots for Shere khan is best considering it gets smashed / Tink + Sworded away so quickly. Taking Shere Khan out as much as I want him to work :(

I would advocate fitting Mulan Imperial Soldier in here somewhere, maybe flat out replacing Solider in Training. With the lore questing weakness of this deck, she could go a long way to adding more lore to existing characters on the board.

Great video. I tried a version of this deck but found two issues : 1) Weight set forces you to play behind curve in order to get the draw off it. 2) The major deck in the meta wants to bounce things about and end their turn with everything readied, so you have nothing to challenge. This decklist seems really good though, I'm definitely going to have a go with it.

Thanks for the input! Yeah, WS puts you behind but I think drawing once per turn is worth it. It feels similar to Magic Mirror in set one, but the draw is cheaper and it’s inkable. Ruby Amethyst does do that, which is why Ruby Steel is good in theory - lots of removal that doesn’t involve challenging. I previously ran Pick A Fight to address this, but I think Dragon Fire is just better.

I played a couple games and I'm impressed how this deck is able to out tempo Ruby/Am. I will have to play it more but it's a fun fresh new anti-meta deck.

I was thinking about this because of all the floodborns! (Could add Beast and Aladdin too!) Not sure how strong lore destruction is though, it might hurt to split the focus of the deck.

Was looking at running a version of this at league and wondering how you’d play around amber/amethyst ultra aggro since it’s one of the matchups I run i to there and and short of adding some some robins or Aladdins in to remove / control lore input, they’re done by turn 5 when we start drawing with weight set…

This deck is one of the best against that because of all the Steel and Ruby Removal. Between Grab, Storm, DFire, Maui, Tremaine, etc you should be good. Always take down Arthur when possible against that deck.

@@ssteadfast I'll give it a shot tomorrow but tbf to the player, the last 2 sets we played she started her on the play games with the absolute nuts and even through removal was consistently at 15+ lore and presenting lethal by the end of turn 4. So I might be overcorrecting a bit exclusively out of spite... But seriously can't wait to try it out. We're lucky to have a very varied meta so it'll be a blast to see how it fares

I practice both when playing in my test group, don’t worry too much about the digital 6-0, that’s just a shiny stat and a small portion of my games. Maybe I should begin tracking the WR based on initial turn though, could be useful!

Great deck and gameplay man! But you never met opponents decks with objects removal in your games? No benjas ? I think it's the nemesis of this deck because, without Weight Set, you don't have any card draw in your deck right ?

I ran into a ton of Benja in print (Blue/Steel and Amber/Steel)- it was annoying but those decks also just WNW cards back to me. Blue Steel can Benja plus hold WNW and just draw off Hiram though, that could shut down this deck.

I read in the deck update in dreamborn you where running sad beast and whole new world. What had you subbed out or consider subbing out for how many copies of each? Going to run it tomorrow in league

I've been testing them, not sure what's best just yet. If you like the idea of drawing off Sad Beast over Queen of Hearts, you could swap out 2-4. Same with WNW just watch your inkable count, I don't think you need more than x2, it's just to help find Weight Set if needed OR to reset a Ruby Amethyst player who has like 7+ cards in hand.

I like 2x Mulan as there’s not many other options at 4 ink (turn 5- 4 ink + weight set) Scar is fine but this deck doesn’t really need any extra help vs a wide board.

Two suggestions: - Lawrence is another 3-cost character that quests for 2 and procs Weight Set - with Peter Pan's Dagger, Jafar and Fidget also trigger Weight Set

I’m not sure if Lawrence procs it because the strength isn’t printed on the card… would need to double check. EDIT - Yeah, the ruling is that he works, so I’d swap him in for sure.

I actually run a version of this deck with Shere Khan included. For me it really helps to keep up with the lore gain. Especially with the rush characters I can close games a bit faster. It also synergizes with the Queen of Hearts draw engine.

Played 5 games with a very similar list tonight and have gone 4-1, I did however include some smash's and Donald Duck not again for some sneaky 4 lore plays. Had a game where Beast Hardheaded destroyed 3 sleepys flute too lol.

Got rid of the Hercules package. I also got rid of the Lilos for Fire the Cannons for more board control. Has helped a lot with early game control while I'm ramping to get the big bois out@@Charles-nr3lu

Brought this deck to locales tonight and went 4-1 and won. Only loss was to an aggro amber amythyst deck and they got 3 lilos and 2 malefecents down by turn 5 lol.
