@@florencehaymer1218 Of course, no teacher allows that. It would have been enough if the teacher had simply told the student briefly that the behaviour was wrong instead of not reacting at all and looking for a small thing as a counter-argument. In this way, the misbehaviour falls under the table and a new topic becomes presenter, ergo it is better to blame something else than the person who caused it. And that's not right.

As a teacher for over 40 years in Hawaii I hope that was not a teacher but a parent or chaperon. Whenever we took our students to locations like this in Washington, DC or Pearl Harbor time is spent teaching the protocol of that location. Students are told the immediate consequences of their behavior. It is made personal to them as England and Europe is a location where thousands of men from Hawaii fought and died during WWII. That the uniform that guard wears represents a military unit that their family member who fought and died during WWII may have fought with. That is all information given to the students before they enter the location. Therefore they know they are disrespecting their own family, and country if they disrespect the location. It is a lesson that needs to be taught to have them honor the history of the location. In Hawaii it is called the "mana" of the location. I love watching your videos and have subscribed to your channel. Love your comments!!

I think it was yesterday that I watched the female guards being virtually mobbed by a crowd of teens. The language was supposed to be Italian but I didn’t recognise it as such….. but I’m no language expert. These Guards were here…. the parent of one of them visited with a lovely ‘dad sign’. Of course when these lovely young women are in their uniforms and have their hair neatly tied up they look just as they’re intended……”uniform”. They are lovely and they never seem to vocalise annoyance at too much horse patting. 1 Hour Girl was there and acting a tad strangely……. too much for poor horses.

My heart goes out to her as this is very much the ‘WRONG PLACE’ for this and she’s not timid or nervous, she has challenged the police telling her to stop. It’s a bit sad but it’s still the wrong setting for horse patting. Maybe she was on holiday and just saw everyone else doing the ‘patting and stroking’ routine and joined in but took it a bit too far. Makes one wonder if all this should stop…. yes a couple of pictures but nothing else?? But, who am I to suggest anything like that…. just a KZfaq watcher.

My daughter is a tour director in England & her groups are mostly young students. Before going to Horse Guards she tells them that firstly, these are highly trained soldiers & horses doing duty, not just an attraction. Secondly, she tells them what is acceptable & what not. What to do if a horse should pull on their clothing, or nibble on them - do NOT wave your arms, or yell. Just gently move away. Recently, when a trooper was out at the horses, he called my daughter over & said the guard had asked him to tell her how much he appreciated the way her group behaved & how respectful they were. This, I feel, should be what all tour directors should do. The guards & their horses deserve respect. Sadly I can only watch from Johannesburg, South Africa!

@@LondonCityWalks There is always and everythere a bad in the pot. The first German group was nice, the second had terrible parts. The teacher was uncapable to teach the students beforhand. German filming and pictures law is very strict. You're not even aloud to take pictures of some houses or achitecture, in special when you use them in a business/ for making money. And people are really strenght about their so called "law on the own picture". You know we had two times in German history there the privacy was not secured and had could end deadly. I understand your handling with the teacher and your filming law.

If she really as a teacher, as a retired teacher I think that checking up beforehand on places one is going to, is essential common sense. When travelling abroad and not, with pupils, I still checked eg cover your shoulders if in a Greek church. It could take only 10/15 minutes to check on the country one is going to. So yes, you’re right. The teacher was at fault…not her country. If the boys respected the teacher - they’d have behaved better.

Well done for dealing with the second group of German students, John. The first lot were really nice. As for the teacher...hmm? I've acted as a teacher/guide for language students here in the UK, in the past. And the first thing you do is prep them up on the do's and don't's of where they'll be visiting. Then if there are any complaints from members of the public you speak politely to that person and find out what went on. Then you read the riot act to the student and get them to apologise. Well, that's the way the schools I worked in wanted it.

Well done John from London City Walks. Thanks for the German- Bashing. This is what happens when you don't speak the foreign language and can't interpret the laughter. The group of young students behaved neither disrespectfully nor differently like your teenagers. The big boy had asked the guard something, and a girl immediately told the boy that the guards weren't allowed to talk, then the young people talked to each other, but not about the guards. Immediately came Knight John, noble avenger of widows and orphans, self-proclaimed protector of the royal guard, who drove the group away with the motto: "Fend off the beginnings." The girls you spoke to didn't know what you wanted, because they had already pointed this out to the boy. You also have to give the young people some time to understand and respond. They are not in a country where their native language is spoken. The teacher, if she was one, just wanted to protect the students. I also thought that the laws and rights, at least human rights, in Britain were similar to those in Germany. In Germany, filming and taking photographs is permitted in public places, but it is not permitted to specifically select people and post the recordings on the Internet without their permission. In Germany this represents a violation of personal rights and is part of human rights. I can't imagine it would be any different in the UK. This thread makes it very clear what happens when you ignore that. Before you call others disrespectful idiots, consider whether you are one too. ;-) The way they talk about the German school class and their teacher after the action is not exactly respectful and that could be because they themselves are unsure whether they may have broken a law. In any case, you are greatly exaggerating and portraying a situation that did not take place. Can you tell me what the group did that was disrespectful? Could you understand what they were saying? I don't believe. Were you upset because the group didn't respond directly? You certainly don't look like a police officer, but like an ordinary tourist equipped with a camera. Why should this group pay attention to their announcements and allow themselves to be filmed?

Sounds like the teacher is weak or liberal and students being students ran all over her and everyone else who they could. John as usual put the kabosh on that, real quick! Lol

16:34 I must say her drill is pretty spot on considering how awful the job can be at times. I do like good drill, so well done. Even in Germany you can film anyone you can see in a public place, age is no restriction. Its a EU Human Right. Teacher should not be teaching. 41:38 That student sounds like he has a good head on his shoulders, lets hope he is not restricted and his mind continues as it is. And his teacher was brilliant, I think he may just be in good hands. It would appear Gnr Glover, the lady in the lead went one pace to far, and was corrected without any words of command but a corrective question lol. I loved that, a good NCO and Gnr relationship.
