while his voice does the "audio" portion, it is his FACIAL EXPRESSIONS that do the "talking" - HOW ADORABLE he is in this interview, I call it "Nureyev, the man child" .. absolutely lovable ....

No one forced the audience to look at him...as for hogging the spotlight, no one could keep their eyes off of him, he was a sensation, and promoted careers of younger dancers who would have had to wait years to grow in companies hierarchy.

He's absolutely correct: "get off your ass" and do it"!!! Wish he was still around, but forever in our hearts.❤️❤️❤️

He was a driven person. The only thing he wanted was to dance. NO other dancer that I know of did “six days a week and twice on Saturdays and Sundays.” I am completely convinced that he could not help it. Some artists, usually the ones who die young, are like that. He was, I think, always fearful of not having enough money as people with severely deprived childhood often are, but given the choice to dance or be rich, I am certain he would have chosen to dance.

A tutti quelli che fanno dei commenti ..... da parte di NOUREEV......: Il film Il Marchese Del Grillo (con Alberto Sordi) " perche IO SONO IO... e voi non siete un cazzo !"

While I understand his bitterness, the reality is Rudy was the one who wanted to keep marketing himself as an international independent artist and wasn't interested being completely connected to any one company. What did he expect? He made all the money he wanted (compared to other stars who made 1/10th what he did). He brought the Royal Ballet a lot but he also hogged the spotlight from English dancers and that sure wasn't forced on him.

He had lots of opportunities to join individual companies, but always wanted everything done completely on his terms centered around him (often to the detriment of the other dancers). Yes, he promoted the careers of dancers in Paris (both appropriately and highly inappropriately as in the case of Kenneth Greve). His defection negatively impacted exchanges between the west and east which had been increasing before he left the USSR. He positively impacted dance but also crassly commercialized it.
