My first impression of trump, back in 2016 (I'm a foreigner and had never heard of the figure before he became a presidential candidate), was that he wanted fame, and the opportunity to be in the spotlight on a world scale. He then tasted the power that comes with the presidency. And he found it very convenient, and in his best trump style did what he could to profit from it on every level and in all possible ways. He had already been expressing admiration for certain "strongmen". And I think that this, little by little, evolved into downright jealousy; he began yearning after being able to do whatever should take his fancy, just like these other extremely unwholesome "leaders", who unlike him were not reined in by bothersome laws and regulations. Yearning to simply be one of them, too, the biggest and "bestest" of them, probably. And thus the spotlight craving trump, grew into a power-greedy one. Who wants the freedom to do as he wants, a freedom having nothing to do with democracy. Because he has definitely shown us that he has nothing but contempt and disregard for law and order. Today, of course, his power cravings has merged with his desperation to escape having to face accountability for his formidable wrongdoings, something running for the presidency gives one an opportunity to do, seemingly, in the US... And add to that his petty and burning vengefulness; it would be strange if he isn't dreaming of revenging himself on everyone who he deems as being nasty to him. And this, dear good sensible people of USA, is just one more reason for you to *NEVER* let him near the White House again. As I also have been saying/posting now and then: The trump is a prime example of someone who despises democracy and freedom, but who loves taking advantage of it until having garnered enough power to put an end to it for everyone else. This is what trump aims for, and he could not be more transparent about it. .............. ................ I have already posted the above comment a few times. After trump's latest threats, however... -there isn't really anything more to add to what trump himself is spewing out, to drive home the fact that you good citizens of the US must do all in your might to keep this mega-menace of a deranged toddleresque corruption on two legs far away from the White House. And let's just hope, that he ends up behind bars, and forever barred from running for the freaking presidency again!

I am worried and I am even not american. The country with the most powerful military is on the brink of becoming fascist. Many American bases are stationed in allied countries. Couple of things: 1. Seth, you do NOT WANT to see Trump play golf. Trump is notoriously bad at it & he's known to cheat on it as easily as he cheats on his wives. In fact he's so bad in it that one book that Trump sucked so bad in one game that he barged into the golf club's store and demanded that he should be declared that he has the best game of the day & they should give him a trophy for it Which reminds me... 2. The lawyers for Ruby Freeman & Shay Moss said that after their win on Rudy. That their next target is Trump. Also, Bankruptcy can't save Rudy & if Rudy doesn't pay he'll go to the equivalent of "Debtor's Prison". Rudy may be getting in more trouble because even though he lost the civil trial. Rudy's not stopping spreading lies. So I'm waiting for Rudy to go to jail! 😁

Yes, and it's a natural evolution of what they've been doing for several decades, with maybe the 1960s being a useful but arbitrary starting point. The GOPs policy proposals are deeply unpopular. That's well established from surveys where people are asked about specific policies. The GOP knows they'd lose if they had to run on policies. So, with the counter culture revolution the GOP found appeals to - what we might call - conservative cultural views. Then they leaned into Christian extremists, and then into a personality cult. Decades of propaganda taught a large number of people to embrace tribalism. See, the useful thing about gays, trans., abortion, 10 commandments in school, etc. is that those issues don't interfere much with economic policies designed to help the wealthy get wealthier. An industry of grifters emerged to help the GOP foment outrage over the cultural issues. The GOP should be thought of as an unholy alliance between religious extremists and oligarchs.
