@@theglowingnugget7999 - I agree, and I hope the police are simply giving first time offenders a lecture rather than nicking them. Let’s not pretend it’s not dangerous, though. At the speeds some of them travel, the car will aquaplane violently, meaning the driver has no proper control of the car. There’s been one or two who’ve ended up going down the river. They could easily wipe out a pedestrian. Also, when the water is cascading over the windscreen, they have no idea what’s in front of them as they exit the ford.

It's a shame that activity at the ford has increased as that's why the police are there. Too many people with youngsters are standing roadside of the mill and could be hit if a car lost control. Some of those 4x4's are really showing off to those crowds and whilst I'm not a spoilsport, they could do so and still enjoy themselves and yet stay under 30 mph. My former husband used to go there in the Hilux he had, and he'd take our oldest son who was just a toddler at the time. I used to take my young boys to Rufford Abbey for a wander around and we'd feed the birds whilst there.

Even going back a few months it was obvious the way people were driving it was only a matter of time until the police turned up. That or someone is going to crash.
