Excellent video. MLR need to do more videos like this. I've been to NFL, NBA, MLB, NHL, MLS and English premiere league games and MLR are my favorite. The tickets are really inexpensive. I sat on the front row for only $33. The players are very friendly. Rugby is all about Sportsmanship. The ethos of the game are absent in most American sports. MLR has a very bright future.

We're hoping to be able to do a lot more like this! And we couldn't agree more about your description of MLR, the values of rugby are the foundation of this sport. We love seeing new fans fall in love with MLR and the game of rugby, we hope to see more and more fans get that opportunity!

@@USMLR fantastic. More like this is needed. Some ideas: explain the different role of each position, typical or trendy strategies, techniques videos...

Which is why there's zero tolerance for showboating (to an extent) and whining to the ref in rugby who will just simply penalize you for doing so. I've seen more than enough of that "drama" in the NBA.

Excellent video for those just finding out about the sport because of the World Cup. One small but crucial point to add is that when the ball is kicked forward in open play, no player who was in front of the kicker may touch the ball unless the one who kicked it gets to the ball first. This small detail has immense implications on how the players are positioned on the field and is one of the key rules in the sport, just like only being able to pass backwards.

I, who loves both rugby and football, am here! I believe that who loves rugby would also loves football, and vice versa. Both of them are fast, powerful, skillful, and strategic. Now let me explain what rugby is like for football fans. *Basically,* rugby is football without downs, or playing beyond the ball. 1. Without downs It means you can continue your attack as much as you can, no matter how much you progressed. There is no scrimmages after tackles; plays would not stopped by tackles, they are stopped only when a foul is committed (I assume that bringing the ball out of bounds is a kind of foul). 2. Without playing beyond the ball Playing beyond the ball is a foul called offside. It means you cannot pass the ball forward because there is no teammates available there. And it also means you cannot block the opponent for a ball carrier behind you. Another interesting rule is about the penalties for fouls. In football, penalties are given as a form of recession but not loss of possession, but in rugby, penalty means loss of possession.

I’ve never been into rugby. I saw a match on TV once when I was in a restaurant. Maybe more than a year ago. Saw this one guy with a huge Afro, looked up the team to find him. Vili Toluta’u. After a little more digging, I found out about the All Blacks Star Ma’a Nonu who was in MLR. Despite not knowing much about rugby, even I learned many years ago that New Zealand takes much pride in the sport. After several months I have come back to now officially learn about it. I subscribed!

I'm watching you grow before my very eyes. Growing up in NZ , I'm a proud kiwi. And our traditions. Esp winning traditions ... And I've always dreamt of more competition. I often wondered what a fully "grown" american team would do against the all blacks and to see MLR putting out content like this makes me happy👍

As a new fan, I find Rugby to be one of the BEST team sports. Also, I appreciate the Referee being mic'd up. By doing so, it really helps learning the rules of play. Thank goodness rugby players don't act like a bunch of primma-donnas. .lol

Im curious, which team is the best in MLR? And do Americans enjoy this more than football?
@Emper0rH0rde3 жыл бұрын
The Seattle Seawolves club has won the first two championships back to back, so they're probably the best. As for your second question, most Americans have gridiron football in their blood, whereas they're still just being introduced to rugby. Football is in trouble, though, as injuries are becoming more and more gruesome and fewer parents every day are putting their sons into that sport.

There is no evidence that William web Ellis invented the sport of rugby.rugby involved out of mediaeval Mob village football rugby been around the same amount of time is soccer Some would argue It’s been around longer.
@wernertukker54202 жыл бұрын
You are indeed correct. It is a medieval game that they played between villages. And yes, it would’ve been a completely different beast of a game. It would’ve been madness. From memory, they had to get the ‘ball’ or object back to their town or something like that. It usually went with festivities or local festivals, so was done for fun and sports. Like I Said, that would’ve been a completely different type of mayhem 😂
