Join me as I shoot my Ruger GP100 with a 5’’ barrel and test different budget 357 magnum loadings. Originally I chronographed the results as well, but due to having the chrono too close to the revolver, the results came out too high. It wasn’t until the end when I reviewed the results that I realized I needed to put it back out farther.
So stay tuned for my Part 2 to this video where I will attempt to get accurate chronograph results of all the ammunitions tested.

Thanks Bud! She really is a looker. The larger hogue grips make it more comfortable to shoot, but I like those wood insert grips too much.

Thanks a ton Nathan! She is a beautiful pistol. Like I said, the larger Hogue grips are more comfortable but I just like the look of those wood inserts too much.

Looking forward to the rifle review. .357Magnum is one of my carry calibers, so I appreciate these videos.

Thanks Frank. I think the GP100 is a great platform for the 357. Shoots all grains without issues and has the bulk to tame the recoil.

Cool. at least it all groups fairly well. I was shooting some ammo today that was 158 grain .357 mag out of the Rossi R92. I couldn't hit anything and I was blaming the sights on the gun. Moved the target from 50 to 25 yards and was still missing it. Shot paper at 25 and it was all over the place. The Key hole was the big signal that something was wrong with the ammo and also some of the primers were being penetrated. The bad part is this ammo was a bulk buy. I bought an ammo can full of this stuff. So now I have 200-300 rounds that are worthless. I'll have to put a video together of all this. What a mess. Thanks for your video and you'll get that chrono figured out before too long. I like the grips like that too. Very nice looking gun.

Thanks for watching as always my Friend! I’m sorry to hear about the ammo. A few bad purchases back in the 90’s scared me away from getting any sort of remanufactured or bulk ammo at the local gun shows. Even when money was tight. Can’t wait to see the video! It will be a good way to inform new owners about buying ammo.

I like all Ruger revolvers. I own a Single Six converted to 9mm by Gary Reeder, an SP101 4 1/4'' & a Super Blackhark 7 1/2''. The GP100 & Redhawk series are also good guns. That being said they are all investment cast frame guns & while this is a strong system it often leaves areas where the steel has porosity from the casting process & because they know this is possible the frames are made a little larger than necessary to accomodate this. The finishing is rarely as good as a S&W because of the casting process and yet pricing these days is as much or sometimes more than a comparable S&W. IMO Ruger needs to get back to what they used to be "The working mans gun" and charge prices that are in line with that idea.

Thanks for the info Frank. Didn’t know about the manufacturing process. Makes sense to use larger cast frames that are ground into shape. Does S&W use forged frames?
@frankbrowning328
@frankbrowning328 11 ай бұрын
@@texmexshoots Yes, S&W still uses forgings for there frames. They dis change some of the internals from forgings to MIM parts such as the hammers, triggers, some of the internals. The MIM parts they produce dont look as attactive but they are still plenty strong.

It's supposed to be 5-10 feet for pistols, and 10-15 for rifles.

Red dots on revolvers are becoming more prevalent. I do like the GP100 series. If you roll ypur own, that's where you'll find the real load for each gun. I'm looking forward to seeing this ammo out of the lever gun. Be safe out there. It's blistering hot everywhere in the state.

They are available from multiple dealers online. You just need to find an FFL willing to do a transfer in your area.
