I have owned the LCP 1 for years. Also the LCP Custom. I have never had any trouble with the guide rod or anything else for that matter. I like your stuff and use it in different firearms. There's no need to discount Ruger to promote your products.

My 380 is a malfunction trainer. Want to love it, but nothing should be so bad out of the box. Maybe NC factory is bad. Still breaking-in (when Ruger says isn't necessary) but didn't realize I'd take the risk of having to modify & replace almost everything on it to be up to standards & reliable. Thought I was getting something 'better' than a SCCY or Taurus but not seeming like it. Could've just got something better.

My factory recoil spring was quite light. I would routinely have hang ups after getting a good amount of rounds through it. When I replaced the spring I noticed a heavy amount of wear on the factory guide rod where it mates against the barrel. I replaced it with a heavy duty after mart one and after a few 100 rounds I have had no issues since. This is all on a LCP 1 I’ve had about 12 years now. Over all it’s been pretty reliable for me.

Most people don't know this, but there's a small hole on the right side of the frame that is for holding the hammer block (sear) forward while you install the frame/chassis (trigger group) into the grip. I always want to call it an "FCU" like on a SIG, but I don't remember what Ruger calls it exactly. You just push the hammer block forward and then put a small punch in the hole to hole it forward. Then pull the punch out after the frame/chassis is in place. A thick paper clip can work also if you don't have a punch that small. It's on the small side of what most punch sets will have in them and I'm sure many of them don't. It's like a 1/16" diameter or something like that. This helps not scratch up the frame by using a punch to push the hammer block forward too. (Although I can see how it's possible for someone to damage/scratch the frame if a mistake is made while using the small hole... but I guess that risk exists with the other method anyways).

Thanks, I'll try this if I need to replace the springs again. Pushing the hammer block forward and popping the slide in place before it snaps back was the toughest part of the install for me, probably took me 15 tries 😅

I just completed the spring change out. My LCP is going to be used by my wife and the factory trigger pull was a bit difficult for her. After the change, she has no problems and, therefore, feels much more comfortable with the gun. I was a bit intimidated doing this myself until I watched the video. Thanks, guys! What a difference this little upgrade has made...an the video tutorial is spot on!

If you own an LCP you have to buy these amazing products I purchased the LCP Spring Kit, Flat Trigger Upgrade Kit and the Takedown Pin. These parts truly transformed my LCP! Everyone knows the trigger that came from Ruger is absolutely horrible and made the LCP very difficult to shoot. No longer! I just installed the Mcarbo parts listed above and instantly noticed an amazing transformation. The trigger is now smooth, trigger take-up is short and the trigger break is crisp. It no longer has that long dreadful long trigger pull. Trigger pull weight was reduced from a measured 6.5 lbs to 4.5 lbs. Last and certainly not least the wide flat trigger is well designed, comfortable along with perfect finger placement. The Mcarbo parts truly transform the LCP into a highly effective shootable pistol. I just got back from the range and I put 50 rounds through it. Before the Mcarbo upgrade I could never get consistently tight groups and it was frustrating to shot. Tonight I consistently got tight groups for the first time ever it is now fun to shoot. More importantly I am now confident I can defend myself with my LCP and would be able to put the shots where necessary to stop the threat. IF YOU OWN AN LCP YOU MUST GET THESE PARTS.

NOTE TO ALL: The roll pin retaining the firing pin is now on the side of the slide for current production LCP “1s”. The roll pin for retaining the extractor is now vertical through the slide, which makes extractor removal MUCH easier. This spring set is a MUST have. Along with some Underwood Ammo, makes the LCP a practical, economical, and effective pocket carry. Highly recommend the pinned Hogue grip sleeve as well..

The trigger kit I received was dangerous and unusable. The main reduction came from the trigger return spring, which was so weak it wouldn’t consistently fully return the trigger. I reinstalled the factory return spring and things worked. The other springs made no noticeable difference to trigger pull.

My 3/32 punch won't go in the slide; well it went in about a 1/16" but it was a bear to get back out. Is there more than one version of the slide? I thought maybe my punch was oversized but my caliper says it is 3/32 on the nose. I got it with my 1/16 punch but the 1/16 punch was big enough to keep the firing pin from firing across the room....oops

Ok so if you have the .22 things are a lot different. There are a couple pieces in here that are not addressed in this video BUT after you do get it all installed and back together.. it's such a huge difference! I suggest you watch this MCARBO video for the .22 ALONG with this one for installing the springs. kzfaq.info/get/bejne/pMePi5ufxN66oGw.html Also, get the updated schematics directly from the Ruger site.

Do trigger kits reduce the hammer spring tension to the point of reducing the impact of the firing pin on the round's primer? I've never done a mod like this.
@MCARBO
@MCARBO 4 жыл бұрын
We take that all into account and design them to produce enough hammer energy to hit primers hard enough to ensure reliable ignition even on hard primers like S&B ammo.

It did for me - I wish I'd have known that the slide was updated, as the pin on the top now retains the extractor. It was challenging keeping the firing pin at the proper rotation when reinserting the pin.

MCARBO makes great stuff. I've got their springs for several of my guns. However, for an EDC, do you really want to mess with the springs? The legality after a defensive episode may leave you in a lot of trouble. I dont make the laws or the prosecutor's agenda, but if a firearm's manufacture specs are for an 8lb trigger, and your gun is less, then they will use that against you. I wish things weren't so screwed up, but a defensive carry pistol with lighter springs may land you in trouble if you use it.

@@MidnightSvn ....seems you have never personally seen the aggressiveness ..or completeness of the prosecuting team, who ( if they're good)...will find ANYTHING to convince a jury (many of whom may not be gun savvy)...that your "mods" done, will be used against you. You may have an opposing opinion on this to laugh it all off...... but to call someone a fearful girl for something that has a good chance of happening if the prosecution is good and out-for-blood.....is going a bit too far. And while we're at it.....don't put pictures of skeletons or skulls on the grips of your guns, etc, etc.....it all works against you in a court of law if the other side is good...and they will be.
@TheWilferch
@TheWilferch 2 жыл бұрын
@@1yehny ...don't be intimidated. I get-it.....a lighter trigger is a worry issue....but....you should be carrying in a pocket holster or IWB holster, that covers the trigger, so your finger can't touch that...and...did you know LCPII has a half-cock-notch safety?...such that in the unlikely case of the cocked hammer being bumped off the sear...the hammer will be arrested by the half-cock notch and not allow the gun to fire? Is this "perfect" ?......no....there is the chance of total mechanical failure if the hammer/sear breaks....but this is incredibly rare.
