This video is of the Ruger MK II chambered in 22 LR
This is an Iconic well-known handgun.
How will this gun do? What ammo does this gun like? We did not test all ammo just a couple different weight to see what it really does and why so many love this gun. Test at 15 and 50 yards. In this video we show two different ammo weight at those distances and what the gun does.
Is it me the gun or the ammo? Have you ever shot at a soda can at 15 yards and say? I can't believe I missed that. Can your pistol even hold under 1.5" at 15 yards? If it can't, it may increase your chances of missing.
Accuracy matters. Sure, many guns can do an occasional 1.5" or sub 1" group but can they do it repeatable. Some guns may have 3 or 4 rounds that group good once in a awhile but not all 8 rounds. And are they Repeatable 8 round? Again, and again. What ammo does the gun like? Is it me the gun or the ammo?
We are here to find out. We do not cherry pick the rounds or groups this is real true results in our videos. This is why you may miss that soda can. If you are not testing, you are guessing as they say.
First shots and groups shown here. No special formula no tricks out of box stock gun and stock ammo.

This test was done at the 15-yard mark. It grouped very well for the distance. then we went to 50 yards.

My late1980s era Mark II Target Bull Barrel will put 10 rounds of Eley Match or PMC Target into a .25" hole at 40 feet (distance across my basement range) rested on a sand bag. Love that gun. Always wanted to see it Ransom rested at long distance. Cool video and thanks for creating it.

I love my old Rugers. I have 2 mark 1s from the 70s and a mark 2 from 1987. They knew how to manufacture a firearm back in the day.

I have the 10 inch bull barrel MK 2. Super accurate. These are true "never sell" guns.

I also have a Mk II bull barrel and this test shows the accuracy the gun is capable of AND the difference ammunition makes.. The range I go to is 25 M ..This test shows what is achievable and what the limitations of the gun are....The one gun that might be better is the S&W model 41... but given what I have experienced and seen here - I think we have made wise choices in the Mk II bull barrel pistol..

Damn I have a red dot on my mark 4 and from the bench at 25 yards I consistently get 1 3/8 in groups. I thought that was pretty good but evidently the gun is still alot better then me lmao

the lead wax bullets Remington in particular will cause your Ruger mkx to malfunction after a couple boxes, its dirty ammo, the copper washed stuff will run for hundreds of rounds without issue

Mark I was my first pistol, circa 1975-ish. Still have it. Just installed a Volquartsen kit in my Mark III and was surprised how nice it is.

I've noticed over the years with some semi auto firearms, both rifle and handguns, that the first hand chambered rd. with shoot outside the main group of all the rds. that are mechanically chambered.

Same chamber same barrel heat is the only factor and ammunition your wrong if it chambers it will set their like every bullet after common sense!

How about a .375 group at 25 yards with a mk1 with remington.22 LR Off a bench? Had a model 57 with a 4" barrel that was a surgical instrument. First group at 25 yards was .900. 7.5 grains of unique, with a 220 Keith swc. Magnums we're flat shooting, and crazy accurate, with 1.318" groups at50 yards. Having eyes like a hawk help, but the gun lets you do some serious hunting/ target work!

My first pistol a Mark 1 with 5 1/2" bull barrel from 1979 with a 2 1/2 power scope at 50yds will put 10 in the size of a quarter off bags and some groundhogs at 100 if I do my part.

Same pistol, maybe five years earlier. Also, my first pistol. I still have it and it still works great. Just put a Volquartsen kit in my Mk III, an I was surprised how nice it feels.

I understand testing common ammo but hyper velocity 22lr rarely delivers the best accuracy. At least shoot 40 grain something. I bet plain Jane CCI 40 grain standard velocity would have tightened up that 50 yard group considerably.

Agree and at the time of the test and ammo bought it was tough to narrow down any ammo especially any CCI shortly after ammogedon.

it would be interesting with premium ammo,, like say eley or lapua?? top of the line testing equipment & cheap ammo don't show off the pistol... well fed It may do much better.??

at 12:55 i believe the gun did really well. Not sure how Lapua or Eley would help that group get any tighter. That said this video is for information purposes to give you a reasonable expectation what that gun and that exact barrel will do with various ammo. Some people may think ammo don't matter I am glad you know better. That said Lapua test center uses our Ransom rest to test with we have lots of Lapua ammo here straight from them. In this case, we did not use the Lapua and grain we had due to in the past it did not run as well in that handgun. The CCI. as seen has proven itself even in the industry But we will do more testing with this this year including more 50 yard test and we will be matching this against the Volquartsen so stay tuned for that. And during this Ammogedon you run what you can. So we wanted to run and show available ammo during the ammo shortages.
