Just another quick bench top look at a classic Ruger single action revolver.

That’s a really cool conversion. .41 magnum and .45 Colt are my favorite handgun cartridges, so I could talk about either for two hours.

It’s a blessing and a curse. 😂 That’s one of the reasons I make videos. No one in my personal life wants to hear me blather on about guns and cartridges and ballistics.

In a pawnshop two years ago. I found 500 rounds of 41 mag ammo. $25 a box.

I like the Power Custom hammer I've noticed those but never seen a demo on how it works , until now.

I’ve got one very similar to yours. I got a steel grip frame for mine. I had it polished and blued. Just a beautiful revolver. Love the 41 mag. It will do anything I need a revolver for. Great video sir.

A beauty indeed. 41 mag just never caught on unfortunately.

It was misunderstood from the get-go. Luckily I’ve got brass and bullets and dies because ammo is hard to find.

A old friend I went to school with beginning in 1968’ thru high school bought a Blackhawk’ New in 1974’. Guy was drinking up in the Hills around 1979’ and spun the 6” barreled BH western style loaded and hammer back. Went off and blew a hole through his forearm and out back of his elbow. If that round had contacted Bone/Elbow it would have blown his arm off. Miraculously missed Bone and major arteries. He never learned his lesson and passed away young abusing his body and doing irrational stuff. 41 mag is a powerful hot high velocity load .

That’s an unfortunate story for sure but thanks for sharing it.

@@SuburbanRifleman you bet. I was standing 7’ away at the camp fire at 1:30 Am when it went down. I told him numerous times to put it away. I pretty much saved his life. Grabbing him tossing him into my Landcruiser. Drove 30 miles out of the Feather River high country to a pay phone in Feather Falls CA. EMT met me on highway 10 miles from Oroville. He could have killed Me. I found the Ruger BH -30’ from the fire pit the next morning. I kept it for a Year until i eventually gave it back. Long time ago, but still burned into my memory

If you had to pick between a 5 shot 41 mag 4" barrel, or a 7 shot 357 mag 4" barrel, which one are you picking to be your one and only "Everything gun"? Ammo cost and availability not withstanding....does the 41 with 5 shots do anything the 357 with 7 cant?

Dude back the cylinder up when rotating until it won’t move. Then you can load and unload, it’s not that F’ing hard.

Cool. Your Ruger New Model must be different than every one I’ve loaded and unloaded.

When you say long colt, it shows your lack of knowledge....there is no such caliber. Ruger blackhawks are not inscribed as such, the stamping simply says .45 caliber. .45 colt is longer than a .45 schofield but the colt is not offficially a "long colt", and there is no "short colt".

So all the boxes of ammo and all the other firearms I've owned, over the decades, which were marked ".45 LC", were just figments of my imagination?

@@stevenp8198 I've done plenty of research. I have numerous volumes on metallic cartridges. I know a great deal more about their development than a couple of talking points, gleaned from reading posts on online discussion forums.

@@SuburbanRifleman bullshit!! Never been a commercial cartridge officially as a 45 long colt!!
@SuburbanRifleman27 күн бұрын
@@stevenp8198 come on, bro. You're telling me to do some research and you've clearly done none of your own. You said there's never been a .45 short Colt when there absolutely was. All you had to do was Google ".45 short colt". The second search result was a nice little writeup, which quotes Elmer Keith talking about the short Colt. Are you claiming you know more about old-timey revolver cartridges than the sixgun king? Here, I did it for you: www.lasc.us/TaylorLongShort45Colt.htm
