Thanks for another awesome video Josh. I have a RPRR and it’s really the most affordable way I could have ever gotten into precision 22lr. I have read and watched everything online about these rifles. I’ve found that keeping the chamber clean is huge for mine. A clean chamber results in flawless cycling and the best accuracy. Mine runs SK plus very well also. CCI standard velocity does okay for the price in mine as well. If everything goes to plan I will be going either the Kenny route or the diy route to a 457 in the next couple of years, but for now I’m more than happy to get to run hundreds of rounds through my very budget friendly Ruger. Full disclosure, I’ve got 1/2 of original msrp in my RPRR , I got it new in 2022 in a going out of business sale. Thank you for show casing a rifle that for a lot of people, is the best option we can afford to get into a great sport.

Josh, Thanks for the video. I just bought an RPRR with an Arken SH4J and loving it. I am not always seeing MOAs, but it is affordable and a challenge. I think this rifle will shoot better as I get more time with it. I can't wait to get it on the fly target. I'm looking forward to seeing more videos on the Ruger. If you do any upgrades, please share. Maybe challenge the other major KZfaq channels to a RPR shoot off.

@562handsomemike I'm not a serious shooter. I haven't taken time to dial in a brand that my RPR likes the best. Last time I was out, I was shooting off a bipod and no rear bag at 100yrd with Federal Auto Match 40gr. bulk. My groups were 4.5". I'm still trying to figure out what's Me, the gun, and the Ammo's contribution to the results.

My RPR is chambered in 22 MAG. I shoot it at 100 yards and I am very happy with it. I have tried many brands of ammo in it and it appears to be not as fussy as 22LR. My best groups are coming from Fiocci and I am very happy with that, especially because it is relatively inexpensive. I have been considering buying another in 22LR. Have not pulled the trigger on that yet, but strongly considering it. Thanks for the great channel!
@Riley_195510 күн бұрын
Just bought me one myself in 22 mag and at 100 yds it is getting around 1 to 1 1/2 inches with a Arken SH4J G2 scope sitting on top .... Cut the threads off the barrel and put an 11 degree target crown on it,ERGO straight grip,heavier mag release spring with a 3D printed longer mag release lever and replaced the trigger spring with a 1911 firing pin spring and it is just a tad over 2 lbs and a very crisp sweet trigger now. Mine isn't ammo picky either .... The best I have found so far that it likes is Federal SG 50gr JHP / CCi 40grn JHP and Armscor 40gr JHP .... The Armscor can be had if you look around for around $12 a bx of 50.

I’ve got a Shaw barrel on my RPR and it made a pretty noticeable difference in accuracy. You can buy those barrels for around $200 and they definitely work. If you’re ever back in Missouri to visit Chris I would definitely be down to letting you try it out.
@Tanker_Ray5 ай бұрын
I had two of these and neither one would consistently shoot sub MOA groups, even with a Shaw barrel. I'd get a 0.60" group, then 0.78", 0.54", 1.22", 1.09" and then a 0.44" with CCI SV. SK Rifle Long Range was the best and averaged 0.52" but still wasn't consistently sub MOA. Sold it and bought a CZ457 and it will perform sub MOA with Wolf Match Target, Lapua Center-X, SK Rifle and SK Long Range. Very happy with it's performance and all of your help getting me there! Also, I grabbed an Arken SH-4J based on your recent video and am really liking it. So much that I will likely get 1 or 2 more of them.

Great video as usual. I found Eley club shot the best out of my RPR when I did a whole ammo test with it.
@glenk22545 ай бұрын
Thanks for the test! I just bought this to get started in longer range 22LR shooting. Adjustable stock, 30 MOA rail, and magazines I already have brings down the entry cost. Another factor, I couldn't find a CZ 457 MTR, At-One, etc in stock.
@glenk22545 ай бұрын
The availability of DIY drop-in barrels for CZ 457 and RPR were key in my selection just in case the factory barrel didn't shoot or you wanted to try to improve the accuracy. From my research, Begara, Tikka and Savage barrels are not easily changed by the DIYer. I would also be interested in shooter's experiences with service quality with the different manufacturers in the case of a problem or need of spare parts.

@billwiley72165 ай бұрын
When any more budget rimfire rifle offerings seem to excel shooting the more budget rimfire ammo offerings that really is a win win for the consumer! Many of the more expensive "precision" rifles usually are more ammo picky and really require the higher pricier grades of match ammo to perform up to their potential.
@joed32645 ай бұрын
I bought one of these a couple of years ago on clearance at Academy + a 10% Veteran's discount. Think I paid $300. I have done a few things to mine. I removed the big spring in the trigger, replaced both action screws, fixed the head space and added a Harrell's screw on tuner. It actually likes Eley SABR. A 10 shot group at 100 yds was a little less than .750". I may play with it some more this spring. BTW my new Bergara B14R really shoots well, unlike my first one.

I can confirm that my RPR performs similar to this. CCI standard velocity does pretty well as well as the SK products. For the money, it's a decent rifle. Have I seen a stock one beat a stock CZ457 MTR? No, but I would say it performs about 80-85% as good in terms of group sizes once you have the RPR dialed. There are many companies that make aftermarket barrels for these which I am considering.
@johnmarston75635 ай бұрын
I also have a Shaw barrel on my RPR. It shoots SK Semi-Auto Rifle really well - actually slightly better than Standard Plus, which is great considering the difference in cost. I'm hoarding as much of that ammo I can find. Today I shot 90 rounds in 5 shot groups and only one over MOA at .54. The best was a large hole at .135. For the money it has been a fun gun to shoot.

Good video - I like you content. I managed to shoot a 6X5 of .370" aggregate at 50 yards with my stock RPRimfire using RWS match. The RWS Match shot better then the Special Match, but it had an ES of 51!. I tried the RPR in a PRS competion but it was a disappointment and haven't used it since. But for hauling around in the truck and shooting gophers, it is a great gun for the money.

I would expect good results with the Wolf Match Extra as Eley makes the the Wolf 22LR ammo. The Extra ammo is the same as Eley Club that many get good results with. The Wolf Match Target is the same as Eley Target that does not group well for me in my Tikka T1X.

I have that set up, and it can shoot dead nut's, the problem isn't the rig but the ammo. Sure you can get lucky and shoot a good box with only a few flyers (3 out of 50) but there is still zero consistency unless you drop $25 a box of 50 or 100 in the case of the CCI green tag. None of the "Match grade ammo has zero flyers." The only consistent (by weight) to .05gn was the green tag. However there are too many variables in a round of ammo to go by weight. So my $1000 Ruger Precision rimfire is still only as good as the POS ammo. Love the video and info.

To anyone still looking for best bang for your buck on accuracy and price. I’ve found that sellier and bellot club .22 is the winner in this gun. I have one in 18” and it shoots 2” groups at 200 yards. It’s 5$ a box or cheaper depending on where you find it. I’m running a 60$ Amazon scope as well so those results are impressive for setup in my opinion. The only thing that not factory on the gun is a Tandemkross game changer brake. I doubt it affects performance but I thought I’d share.

There is an impressive 22lr precision rifle and steel match fallowing at my rifle club after attending a match I decided to get into the BR factory class 22lr rifle Due to its cost I seriously considered the RAR Precision 22lr but three members of my club have them and all three guys told me the RAR Precision was just to inconsistently inaccurate to even be considered for precision 22lr and they were using 22lr ammo in the $10-$12 a box as far as ammo quality went. After a BUTT load of research my choices were between the CZ457 MTR and a Bergara B14r and a fellow member of my club let me shoot his save for a AM 3oz trigger otherwise 100% factory B14R at 50 yards with SK Pistol Match Special ($10-$13/box) and it shot ridiculously well Im talking in the .4s and high .3s at 50 yards so $975 later I had a B14r steel barrel version and it has performed superly well for me.

Put an EC tuner on mine. You still have to go through the ammo testing process, but once you find one it likes you can fine tune out the flyers. CCI std velocity is what I settled on an it will constantly print under 1” at 100 yards. Also be sure to do the foil tape bedding and play with action torque. It just makes the rifle more consistent.
