I sure did claw through some content. Sorry, that joke was made in a pinch. Mojang just announced the new crab Minecraft mob for the Minecraft Live 2023 Mob Vote! So... I ruined it. Will you vote for the crab, the armadillo, or the penguin?

@@squareguy5353when crabs only have 1 claw removed they are still aggressive and will actively fight and lose against other animals. When both claws are removed they are forced to hide until both are grown back.

The idea behind getting crab claws is that crabs shed the old big claw because it gets infected or damaged during a fight. they break it off and a new one grows back. Its probably be like an egg laying mechanic of chickens where they drop it time to time.

If they added all three mobs every year without a vote but rather just instantly unannounced, there would be problems like... like... like... yeah no they could've so easily made this game better by just releasing all three mobs every year (which is generous to do considering they have a whole team on the job compared to this chad who will most likely add all of the mobs in 3 days)...

i just realized that according to their logic, they can't add crabs because according to mojang, if they're passive or neutral, it will encourage kids to touch them and get hurt, and if they're hostile, kids are going to actively kill crabs.

my guess for how you get claws without killing the crab is that the crab naturally removes its own claw and grows a new one like they occasionally do in real life

Regarding crab claws, they actually autotomize the claw if it felt threatened, or if the claw is a burden to them through either it is too damaged, or was trapped because of it.

2:48 crabs can drop their claws when stressed so maybe sneaking up on them or having a hostile mob sound nearby could make them drop a claw

Crabs doesn't drop their claws when threatened by predators, they're showing defensive position with their claws. They will only drop it when they got injured on their claws

Option 1 those are extra mobs that wouldn't be added to the game otherwise (crossover mobs like the glowing squid or the allay) Option 2 we wouldn't be aware of the mobs and would complain about mob bloating (if the mob vote started earlier the stray, husk, and polar bear would have been a mob vote for sure) Either way it would have a negative impact on the game because these mobs are not designed to be all added at once

i mean crabs sometimes shed their shells to get bigger, so maybe the player can just find discarded claws laying around crabs. maybe when you breed two crabs abd make a baby crab, the baby crab sheds its claw when it turns into an adult.

Kingbdogs, one of the developers of Minecraft, made a great response for people like you who don’t know what it’s like to design a game. In his statement when people asked him why they can’t add all 3 mobs is because they’d have less in the core update because time is a limited resource. Also people forget that bedrock edition exists when they make this statement, theres a reason all of these “i made the update before mojang” videos take place on java edition. Bedrock is coded in c++ so they have to rewrite the code in that language and have to make sure that every platform of minecraft, even the mobile version, can run smoothly without any problems in the update. The developers work long shifts to make sure that the update comes out for a reason.

The crab randomly stealing items is a fun idea. They should make it so that killing the crab is not an option if you want the item back so you have to trade another item with it or something, maybe even obtaining their claw through that process

The update isn’t only the mob, there are many other things in the update. They also have to make sure it would work in bedrock edition, which is probably the longest part as they have to rewrite the code of the entire update because bedrock uses c++ and its on many platforms which they need to make sure the update works ok on without lag like mobile devices. So anyone saying that mojang is “lazy” doesn’t know anything about game design.

You get crab claws like that one gif of a crab angrily tearing off his claw and throwing it on the ground. I don't care if crab rave is overdone, i think every mon should have a dance animation. Zombies can do Thriller, Skeletons can do Spooky Scary Skeletons, cats can do catJAM, etc.

that's the thing that bug me about mojang... they are a company and their updates bearly add stuff in.... like the sniffer didn't let us make ancient blocks from it's flowers, just a few flowers you can make. it's not the crab+water biome remake it's just ONE mob
