Ruins Of Ancient Buddhist Temple Set To Open In Kyrgyzstan

The excavated ruins of an ancient Buddhist temple in Kyrgyzstan are set to go on public display. The clay-brick walls of the monastery are more than 1,000 years old and stood along what was then the Silk Road trade route between Asia and Europe.

Kyrgyzstan was once a Hindu-Buddhist region prior to the islamic conquest of Central Asia, India and Central Asia were once United under the great Mauryan,Kushan,Huna/Hunnic and Karkota Empire's.

I think MOST people of the world TRY to preserve ancient things found in their countries, because they take such things to be a part of their cultural heritage OR cultural landscape, even if their religious beliefs have shifted. (Hinduism, of example, was the first major religion to have gone out of India to convert most Southeast Asians, from Burman, Thailand, Laos, Vietnam, and Cambodia down to Malaysia, Indonesia, etc. But then Buddhism and Islam, much later, replaced Hindism; but most nations and people in Asia still revere Hinduism and their own native beliefs, in addition to Buddhism and Islam.) Crazy, primitive, and illiterate Muslim groups like the Taliban, however.... they're a different group of people entirely. Very virulent and destructive. They destroyed, systematically, MOST of the mighty Buddhist symbols, statutes, and temples found in Afghanistan, when their first got power in the 1990s. Now they're back in power, after 20 plus years; so probably says they will finish evaporating all major Buddhist, Hindu, and Native belief symbols, buildings/ structures, and temples from Afghanistan... And they are able to do that because they also have help from very virulent Muslims either from Iran (Shia, who supported radical nut cases who put a death sentences on writers or any one who speaks ill of their fairy tale books) or from Saudi Arabia (Sunnis, folks who supported Bin Ladin and other radical Sunnis who terrorized much of the Middle East, from Saudi Arabia itself to Iran & all in between!) Crazy people and their crazy Stone, Iron, and Bronze age-based fairy tales...

@@dawnfm00With all due respect, buddhism has its origins in india. As a hindu, I can respect buddhism because it's our very own, however buddhists don't respect me. I met the dalai lama in person in india, however despite that I still haven't encountered a nice buddhist outside of India. They always discriminate me. I wish I could call them nice people, but my experiences say otherwise

It is not surprising that there are Buddhist sites in Kyrgyzstan because they used to belong to the Kushan Empire.Or at least had ties to the Kushan Empire.

Buddhism was wide spread, unfortunately in India after 11th century, we see destruction and hostile takeover of Buddhist Mahaviharas by Iranian Migrants who now call themselves Brahmin. Now they have a full fledged religion where they call Bodhisatva as Vishnu, Buddhist Votive stupa as Shiva Linga (Phallus). And they have stolen our buddhist language called BHS and now they claim the modern version of it as Thousands of years old which is untrue. A great scientific philosophy is lost. Hope the lesson of humanity that buddha taught 2500 yrs ago would someday be revived.
