When Ruins was out, it was the funnest time I had playing DND. Especially when it was stacked on top of crypts. Idk why people complained about it so much. Probably one of those situations where only the people who didn't like the map said something and everyone who liked it said nothing.

nah mate i loved ruins but the 3 layer map was bs, people didnt like how long games lasted... especially if you were doing bosses.. and for certain challenges you needed a specific boss... 40 minutes just to get the wrong one and have to do it all again... bad game design

@@HendoXL Thousands of people play 8 hours straight of dayz to die with no audio and a black screen, with nothing to show for it. sometimes the end goal isnt supposed to be spoon fed.

They should have made the ruins servers merge in crypts so you'd have a full lobby. Also the questing made it so that surviving ruins was a drag, I loved it as well but those are the 2 primary reasons.

⁠@@benzodiazepeenthis isn't some hardcore realistic survival game, dayzs appeal is that its a hardcore survival and so it attracts those kind of people, dark and darker is an dungeon crawler with some elements of hardcore play, but thats not its main appeal. the main appeal are the interactions you get in the dungeon such as pvp or killing bosses, completing quests. almost no one who plays dayz is casual but most of the dark and darker playerbase are casual. your comparison is a terrible one please revisit your english classes.

Honestly loved the first ever version of the Ruins, loved the verticality of the map but I understood why it was not to be. Double jump was brand new at this time, and the rogues abusing the map's accessible verticality made 'em redesign the whole thing.

map was too open as well. rangers dominated more than rogues. Also whats the point of double jump if you cant get to certain inaccessible places? Early Double Jump was broken af, but with -18ms you risk way more than what you gain.

@@xd_cyrus8350but people were grinding ap back then, cause it was worth so little ap to kill someone it wasn't worth the risk to potentially lose your entire inv and entrace fee. especially when said person has 2 other guys also being friendly
