They made rap and hip hop go global! I still remember a picture of kids over in Japan dressed just like Run-DMC! That's when I knew rap music was here to stay! Unfortunately, to a guy like me that grew up during the genesis of hip hop, the "rap" music now just doesn't do it for me. I retired listening to rap music around '97 but there are a few of songs I do like but it's only because of the beats and the chorus. Back in the day, lyrics were the reason to listen to everything that came out, now it's just corporate money grabs. But hey, every generation has to have their own music. I'm just glad you have the opportunity to listen to mine.

I used to jam to this all the time. Darryl McDaniels is a friend of Sammy Hagar and they've jammed together several times. Unfortunately, I never got to see Run DMC, but I saw Hagar in concert in 1984 and 2002. His guitar player, Vic Johnson, is very good and can play Van Hagar songs even though he's not an Eddie Van Halen clone, and he's the first guitar player that Sammy has let play on studio tracks in any of his bands besides Montrose and Van Halen. *Más Tequila* is a good song to check out.
