They're both legends. El-P assisted in holding down the underground scene during the early 2000 hip hop drought on Definitive Jux records. Def Jux and Rhymesayers entertainment held it down when hip hop was lost...

First time I heard em was on the Black Panther trailer abd I was hooked; They're so grimmy and catchy. El-P is a beast producer and killer mike is a monster lyricist. Probably one of the most entertaining and most well produced duos ever.

This is legit SUCH a great little find. I adore you Simon in the Why series, and Jon is a straight legend for the knowledge and personality. Now, for more RTJ, you NEED to hit up "Call Ticketron" and "Run the Jewels". Totally surreal beats and nuts rhymes. Even an old Gojira loving metal head can not stop listening to them.

I used to only listen to punk, indie rock, and metal until I stumbled onto El-P and other Def Jux, Rhymesayers, and Anticon artists and it forever changed my life. I was a guitarist/songwriter for various punk, indie rock, and metal projects for many years, but El-P profoundly inspired me to start experimenting with my own unique rap/hip hop styles. El-P is easily my number one favorite producer of all time because he has such a distinctive approach and nobody else does it like him. You can probably detect his influence in my music.

Killer Mike of Run the Jewels was featured on Logic’s album Everybody. One of Logic’s favorite rappers is featured on the last track. Apparently he made the smash hit “Workout.”
