"Run Through The Jungle" was written by singer, guitarist, and songwriter John Fogerty. The song was first released on Creedence Clearwater Revival's fifth studio album, Cosmo's Factory, in 1970. The lyrics and title of the song have led many to believe that the song is about the Vietnam War.
What tuning is Run Through The Jungle in?
The guitar tuning for "Run Through The Jungle" is drop D tuning. To get there from standard tuning, you'll want to take your low 6th string and tune it down from E to the note D. This gives the song and riffs a deep bass foundation that adds to the emotion and feel of the song. Simply tune the 6th string down and leave the rest of the strings the same.

Someone further down might have mentioned it but John Fogarty tunes all strings down a whole step and plays out of an Em shape. Your lesson is great and ideal for people who can’t be bothered to do that but some of the licks don’t work as well playing out of a Dm shape.

I play it as a slide tune in open Dm which is just every string down a whole step except the A. No matter how you do it it’s good fun to play.

This is a great lesson, on a song I never really thought about learning. Especially on a song like this, you should give us some insight into how you get your tone. Because of the lighting or camera angle, I couldn't even tell where your pickup selector was set.

I forgot what a great song this is and both bluesy as well as a little funky. I'll have to learn this one. Thanks for the post John, I enjoy your posts. I've played a long time but these posts remind me of all the songs I've somewhat forgotten but still love. Great post. Are your pick ups on the tele standard pickups or what pick ups do you use. You know Fogerty tunes to D standard and if you watch him live it does look much more like he is using a ‘Em shape rather than a Dm shape.

In my recent video tutorial, I use Em as the foundation of the song, and it's super easy. Other video channels use the Am and Dm approach. Suzie Q and Grapevine a easier and fuller sounding in Em also.
