I’ve always thought of an Archfey patron as being one of those old gods, like in Game of Thrones. Like, if you brew a potion of bat shit, dog’s blood, dirt and acorn meal, then drink it under the glow of a moon, an old crone lady will appear before you with black, sunken eyes, and bugs crawling out of every extremity. Then she speaks in a language that sounds like a cracking forest fire, and tells you to perform the will of the root and rot.

Imagine having the Feywild as an actual realm in your product for years and then never making a module set there

Our warlock just woke up hangover with powers and no recollection of how he got them. Apparently, he just drank with an archfey in disguise and both of them got so wasted they made a pact for fun. And yes, the city where they did it was a fantasy counterpart of Las Vegas.

I think a fun party dynamic would be to have both an Archfey Warlock and a Hexblade Warlock, and hate each other's guts. One gets power from the Feywild, the other from the Shadowfell, and their opposing personalities and powersets lead to constant bickering. ...But by the end of the campaign, they're best friends.

"They can just take away your power" I don't like this flavour of warlock. I like the flavour where you are an investment of power. They give you power, and you grow it by levelling. When you die, they get their power back plus whatever you managed to cultivate.

I once used Fey Presence to charm an entire room full of mimics and tricked them into jumping into our bag of holding. This is the best thing I've ever done in D&D and I don't think I can top it

That Archfey is almost exactly like a minor god our characters knew in our campaign. He was a god of alcohol and peace via doing things that make you happy (like drinking and partying). He usually disguised himself as a human wizard/cleric as not to raise suspicion. Probably my most favorite NPC in the campaign. He was pretty kind and helpful in his own way though. My first character always manages to annoy him in some way (not intentionally though), but he's pretty friendly with my second character.

Personally, I really like this Pact. It can be rather fun and is one of the few that isn’t overtly evil since the Fiend, Hexblade, Undying and GOO are more then likely evil while this one and the Celestial are the ones more often good. I mean this one could obviously be evil or neutral as can the Celestial but they can both easily just be outright Good. Personally I’d do a little Fairy Tale Theme for a Character with this Patron. Combo it with Pact of the Tome for a Fairy Tale Book and a couple appropriate Invocations. Some I thought would be good would be Beast Speech, Eldritch Sight, Far Scribe (Unearthed Arcana), Mask of Many Faces, Mask of Myriad Forms, Misty Visions, Trickster’s Escape, and Witch Sight. I’d roleplay as a Storyteller who’s greatest goal is to make a story that can become as real as possible through magic and the Fey. Their Patron is just inhumanely bored and wants to see this story play out. Like a bored guy flipping through channels and who finds a show that’s decently fun and entertaining.

For a particularly dark take on Archffey Warlocks, yall should check out Jonathan Strange and Mr Norrel. An english magician accidentally becomes indebted to an ancient Fey creature. It used to be on netflix. Very dark, but very fun.

My faelock basically made a pact because they were friends with Hyrsam as a kid (it's a very complicated backstory) and really looked up to him. So it's great because Hyrsam is all about anarchy and stuff so my faelock is always just trying to undermine the monarchy. Which is hilarious because the party currently works with the monarchy and are very trusted. (not for long if my character has it their way lol!)

Ah yes. Pact with an Archfey. Also known as "The subclass that helps you escape when you roll shit on your persuasion checks."

My Feylock was literally a magical girl, even used thaumaturgy for flashing lights and colors for the transformation/opening monolouge. You see, my parents had prayed for fertility and beauty in thier child at an old fey well, offering all thier future children if they could just have the one perfect girl. The archfey agreed. They later started worshipping a god to make sure they couldn't have any more children, and the archfey went "OH, OK. I CAN'T GET OUT OF THIS BLESSING, BUT I'LL SHOW YOU A BLESSING" flash forward to adulthood, the farmgirl who's so 'beautiful and fertile' she can't even run is crying at the well. basically asks why SHE had to be punished for her parent's deeds, now she was slated to be married to a horrible noble to her parents' benefit, this wasn't even proper revenge! She promised she would do whatever she knew as good and right for all her life if the archfey would just grant her mercy and the power to do so. The archfey felt pity on this poor girl, saw she spoke truthfully and was good of heart, and gave her the power to escape this curse as long as she always tries to do good and save good people. The Archfey didn't realize Mami was dumber than a rock. She stuggled understanding what a person was with all these weird races and talking trees, so she had a checklist. To be a person, they have to talk, look persony, and have a name. If they do not check all three than they aren't a person, they're a 'guard' or 'barkeep'. Might still try to help if they're good, but no longer bound and might actually commit heinous crimes out of stupidity. So just the constant 'In the name of the moon I will punish you" shenanigans, while the fey watches in amusement and horror at the creature they still must give power to because she's not technically breaking contract by stealing the shopkeeper's clothes. Because that's not a 'people' that's a 'shopkeeper.

Just to clarify, you don’t automatically get “faerie fire,” “sleep,” or other spells on the expanded spell list. You just have the option of spending your “spells known” on them. :(

It actually tilts me so hard when ppl act like the feylock isn't amazing. I once played a level 20 pvp oneshot in an ever changing landscape where monsters could interrupt the combat whenever. And when another pc and i got dropped into a dragon turtle's lair, i misty escaped out, then used dark delirium on them. I made them think that the map did another one of its changes and that the dragon turtle was now a portal out of the cave and that the exit was now the turtle. The PC dove into the water trying to escape and got killed by the turtle, especially when i feared them so that they couldn't even run towards the exits. Then, they tried to charm me to make me fight it instead and i just reversed it and sent them to their doom. Sure it's not conventionally powerful, but it can be the most dangerous character in the game with the right creativity and outlook. And it's a damn good time

I play a bard with 2 Levels of Warlock (Archfey) who has an instrument blessed/cursed by Hyrsam. Between the Actor feat (allows me to mimic people's voice and mannerisms), Mask of Many Faces invocation (allows me to cast Disguise Self at will) and the Charlatan background (allows me to forge documents). Its REALLY like playing a spy or a Looney toons character and I have FULLY leaned into the mischievous fey aspect of it.
