For all that are buying this unit, congrats, it’s fantastic!! Please be sure to properly break it in. Run it for an hour with alternating loads, not to exceed 50% of its abilities. Change that oil after the first hour - the milling filings will need to be flushed out.

Your a/c has a delay start time, it also draws more when it first starts, so you can't leave everything on all the time because sooner or later it will over load when the a/c starts while other high draw amp things are on. I will stagger my operations running things separately. In other wards cool the house down and shut off the a/c before cooking dinner. I recommend a 5:2:1 hard start kit. and never let your generator get rained on. Thanks for the Video.

I live in Houston and this last winter a lot of people lost power during a big freeze. We had people even freeze to death down here. I just purchase this generator and it will be delivered tomorrow. I wondered what it could handle. It looks like it is perfect for my needs. Now to try and figure out how to sound proof it as much as possible. Thank you for your Video. 👋

honestly more people need to invest in a backup generator. unless our TX legislation receives some kind of penalty for what happened with the freeze they will continue to keep business as usual and us working class will continue to suffer.

Great video....I was planning on purchasing the same generator from Lowe's. I just had my new complete AC unit replaced (New home built in 2007). Old AC would have cost more to repair, so I purchased a new AC (5 ton) 3000 square feet home. I plan on using the generator as a backup and not run all appliances just AC, it is hot in Texas. Thank You for this video. It shows what I need to know about Westinghouse generator. Me and my family lived thru the Artic front that came thru Texas this past Feb. We were without electricity for 4 days. Not not good. So months later we put a generator plug. We were just waiting for a Champion generator 11,500/9,200 which never came. 10 days after it was supposed to I called Home Depot and according to them, the company responsible to transfer lost it, NSD. So I requested my money and waiting for it now. So now we dont know which one. Westinghouse looks very good but I also went to Harbor Freight and looked at Predator which looks very good too, but don’t know their rep. So undecided but thank you for this video. Need to see who sells Westinghouse here locally in Laredo. God Bless.

Portable generator input and interlock transfer switch should be standard for new build these days. The average cost of materials when I was putting them in was about $350 including a 25 foot 50 amp rated generator cord not including labor; probably cost more now. If your 4 ton condensing unit is 5 years or less it wouldn’t hurt to invest in a soft start kit to tame down the locked rotor amps from stressing your generator too badly.

@Joel Powell Really good info. Quick question about your 4 ton AC unit. Can you look on your condenser specification sticker (on the side of your AC condenser) and tell me what your R.L.A. and L.R.A. amps specs are? LRA is the starting current and RLA is the running current. Our new Ruud unit LRA is 123.9 amps and LRA is 17 amps.

Nice video. I used a Soft Start on our 4 ton AC and man did that help. LRA went from 100+ to average of 38. Worth every dime. MicroAir Easy Start 368. And ya, Nice GenSet. Still working for you after a year? We are expecting roaming blackouts this summer as the water head pressure at both Lake Mead (Boulder Dam) and Lake Powell is already very low. Hydroelectricity needs a lot of water pressure and we simply ain't got what we are going to need. A dryer full of tannerite,.... I'd pay to see that... :^)

Just curious 🤔 is your hot water heater electric? If so that thing was carrying that to unnoticed... Lastly, did your electrician go with 8gauge or 6 gauge wire for the panel 🤔? I have 8gauge...
