I have a sister in law that really did run away from home and no one noticed she was gone. 3 weeks later, when she finally walked back into her house, her Mom yelled at her about not doing a chore. She was one of 13 kids though, so maybe that was why... I used to always want to run away from home, and my Mom told me to do it, she was sick of putting up with me. She even brought me a suitcase and told me to pack. Ah, childhood trauma.

4:17 I LOVE THIS PART!! It captures the essence of those weirdly disturbing children show scenes, specifically disney. Also the way she's narrrarating, is PERFECT. It's giving me the same vibe as the animation, weirdly disturbing for a children's show. Maybe like an Alice and Wonderland kinda feel! Edit: Oh and it also reminds me of Grinch--!

0:46 you are very correct,I went through a “mlp phase” when I learned about my little pony:friendship is magic generation 4,I grew out of it,but not entirely,only 96/100 of me grew out of it,and when gen 4 ended,I kinda cried,although,the 1/25 percent of me that didn’t grow out of it was interested in gen 5

the funny thing is, while other kids said they would ride away i practically did it. it was spring break for me in i think 3rd or 4th grade. My mom and our roommate were at work and my younger and older sister got in a fight against me. We were fighting while playing outside so after we argued they ran inside and locked me out. we all didnt have phones at the time so i just continued playing without them while being locked out. i heard my sister call my name to the back door so i assumed she was gonna let me back in. I waked over to the back door to see a note, 2 dollars, and my shoes. The note saying "go away we dont want you anymore, mom wont miss you either!" and instead of being sad or angry i was kinda excited. I dont know why i was excited maybe i thought that i was going on some adventure idk. I put on my shoes, took the money and started walking down our street and around our neighbor hood. After walking for about 2 hours and playing with the stray dogs i got hungry. My friend lived about two blocks away from me and i decided to go to her house and ask her dad if i could live with him. I walked for about 30 minutes before seeing a car that looked vaguely similar one to the car my mom and our roommate drove to work, Which was a yellow-goldish Honda van. I didnt think anything of it but as it got closer to me while i was walking i started hearing yelling that sounded like my mom but i didnt know where it was coming from. Until the car pulled up to me. Turns out my mom and roommate left work early and were driving to see my moms daughter wearing a blue ninja turtle shirt, yellow tie-dye shorts, and purple sandals. I was obviously in trouble before i showed them the note and told my mom what my sisters did. My mom busted into the house and after i heard children screaming, shoes being thrown, and the sound of spanking i got McDonalds with our roommate. Im generally surprised no one called CPS with all the bloody murder screams. I dont know if any of my family members remember this but i remember every second of this event in my child hood. XD

What I love is you can hear how much she loves and misses her dad. She’s keeping him alive in her art. It makes my heart flutter

That Grinch animation at 4:17 was honestly the perfect showcase of why you don't need mouths in your art. I mean, that was amazing! You can still show so much expression in a character even if you're missing a simple facial feature :))

I remembered when me and my sister wanted to run away (for actual family issue reasons) we'd take a black bag , some of our clothes , our favorite toys and some canned foods with us before making it out of the house. We made it about two streets away from home when we felt the dread of the punishment that we'd get from our Step dad. So we made it home in fear and tears.

I thought about running away a bunch as a kid. Never actually tried it since I didn't know what I'd do after I left, but it was a thing. Also yes, I'm pretty sure annoyance is a love language. I think the only reason me and four of my other sisters are as close as we are today is because we'd bother each other so much when we were children. It's just that "Annoyance" doesn't sound as lovely as the other love languages, so it never gets counted.

Honestly, Rebecca's mom is pretty cool for running along with the prank, my mom would've just grounded me right there (only for the afternoon though).

I once got really mad at my parents when i was a toddler and i tried to tie a blanket to a stick. But i couldn't find out the knot for it so i just carried the blanket like a bag of gifts over my shoulder. I couldn't even make it 20 meters away from the house and i ended up sitting in front of the house. My parents thought "aww, it's a little picnic!"

I said I was going to run away. For me "running away" entailed making a single peanut butter sandwich and gathering basically all my books before hiding in the closet with a flashlight. I left my mom a note saying I was running away from home and she found me a little less than 10 minutes later in my closet with a book and the flashlight. Hehe Grinch animation

my older brother had a LONG "running away" phase when he was a kid, that started nearly as soon as he was old enough to walk, (I know this from a famous family story where he actually did try to run away as a toddler, and got all the way up the street dragging his baby blanket, before our parents noticed) and lasted until he was in like. middle school. Now that he's old enough to actually move out, we can't get rid of him 🙄

Really digging the variety this video has to offer, like the sudden news flash, the sneaky pause to add a passing comment, and the whole idea of using going outside the treehouse with a picnic to tell the story. (and, of course, the handkerchief bag-on-a-pole being the picnic)
