My plan is usually to do a Zone 3 run on a Tuesday morning, around 12km. However when I woke up, I had some DOMS in my calves from the hillwalking on Sunday (obviously not doing enough of it), so I was unsure how it would go on the run. Last Tuesday I had really heavy legs and wasn't able to get my heart rate up, and I had concerns that the sore knee would kick in.
However, my worrying was in vain. It was a great run, one of the most enjoyable I've had in weeks. So much so that I decided to extend it to 14km. No discernible knee pain and I was able to work hard enough to get my HR up above 140 BPM for a good portion of the run. The weather was great, slight breeze and sunshine.
