Masterful job!!! We had a MF trip arranged for June of 2002. Two days before, we found out the level was 1.2 feet at Boundary. Everyone else bailed on the trip. We were experimenting with a tandem rowing Jack's Plastic Catboat and determined to practice on the MF as we had a Selway ticket 10 days later. On launch day, nobody else was anywhere near the ramp at Boundary. Through a series of lies, we convinced the Ranger to let us run. We spent much of the first day and a half walking the cat through rock gardens, etc. But finally, as the side creeks kept adding to the flow, we never had to step out again. Our proudest moment was at Haystack. There was no singular path through the monster boulders. We scouted for a very long time, planned the route and then repeated it to each other two more times. As we were preparing to launch a couple of sweep boats came in to scout. We did a whole series of rowing forward past a boulder, then back paddle to shit to the right or left. We hit every slot perfectly and never touched a rock. At the bottom the sweepers applauded us.... could not have prayed for better praise. The Selway was at 1.1 feet when we launched. We lightened our load as much as possible, even doing our own mess. Our "practice" on the MF served us well. While everyone else spent most of the first day out of Paradise in the water dragging their rafts, we never had to get out of our boat for the rest of the ride. Age and health have kept me off the rivers for 10 years now, but no one can ever take away the marvelous memories. Thanks for the chance to live vicariously through your journey.

Really enjoy your vids. Must take a lot effort. I do wonder what will happen to americas jewel. Way to many. Loving it to death. Kinda like Venice. We Idaho people that pioneered this river can no longer visit. People all over the country are gaming the system. Oh well it sure was grand for 60 years. I guess we had our turn.
