For those interested in starting in model railroading, don't overlook the books about the hobby that your public & school libraries have! Don't feel you can't run SP & UP equipment together! The UP & SP were known as the " Harriman Roads" because they both were owned by E.H. Harriman. I saw a photo in Classic Trains magazine of " The Overland " a jointly operated UP-SP passenger train that has cars from both roads.

Dirt Mary Crazy Larry ( 1973 ) Ending scene involves an Also S2 with Union Pacific boxcars and a Dodge '69 Charger. The Seven-Ups ( 1973 ) Scene near the end shows a run down section in New York City along Penn Central's Northeast Corridor. Penn Central and Amtrak GG-1s in the solid black PC scheme and Amtrak Platinum Mist and the Penn Central United Aircraft Turbo Train. The GG-1 really did sound like that with the humming motors and the single note blat air horn.

I actually have the bachmann HO scale Hogwarts Express. I used to set it up under my Christmas tree and let it run around it I haven't used it for about 2 years now I know the last time I ran it it was running slow so it's probably needing oiled and its Wheels clean. But I do have it I used to work in retail and the store that I worked for had it in the clearance aisle it was the only one left and I bought it for$25..

Good points about the hobby, do what you like. When it becomes a misery you won’t want to do it any more. So, have fun instead.

size on the rivarossi bolts on the wheels is a 3mm and the old rivarossi big boy will run with out the tender the pic ups are on the front and rear wheels including the rear truck and the small front truck some of the 2 8 8 2 rivarossi need the tender and some dont depending on when it was made.

Hey SMT MAINLINE have you ever consider adding a turntable to the Hershey Factory freight yard so if locomotives bring freight/passenger car over there you don't have to pick them up to turn them around you can use the turntable for turning the locomotive around to go back onto the mainline

What are your thoughts a vintage Mantua? I have an 8 car set GN 2-8-2 Mikado GreatNorthern in all new condition but pulls slower forward than reverse and an Athearn Blue Box GN SDP40 per/dummy set Blue/White scheme that pulls 15+ roll stock that I have with ease. Has great slow speed.
