This week, I am going to talk to you about Chaînés - which usually involve a series or ‘chain’ of turns.
Chaînés requires agility and good body coordination, since it uses a whole side of the body - legs, hips, ribcage and shoulders - to snap the body around.
In this video, I gave tips and critical points that'll help you master chaînés turns.

Good technique and very good explanation, step by step, layer by layer, no rush, paying attention to many important details that will help a dancer later on, reduce different problems.

One of the best corrections I have ever had in ballet is to turn your head with your turn. In other words don't leave it behind. Still whip it around to the spot, but start that whip around with your turn. Don't leave your head behind. It comes down to a timing issue and makes pirouettes a whole lot easier

I like the counting you do in the spotting exercise. I usually count in 4 but I think I will try 8. I do the turn on flat first and they lift the heel to pivot and have to "glue" their heels together. Later they do your version holding demi pointe that you show in the video. Would you recommend having them put their hands on their shoulders and their elbows lifted because I find the kids lose the integrity of keeping the elbows to the side with their hands at their waist? They tend to let the elbows go back. thanks in advance

Oh hands on shoulders for sure!!! elbows level with shoulders and directly out to side. The elbows act like arrows that they can see look over with their eyes maintaining the spot👍🏼

Thank you for this. I just came back from class and there was no explanation as to how to do these turns which came at the end of a combination. Now I can practice.
